The Never-Ending Threat of Civil War
American Thinker ^ | April 6, 2019 | E.M. Cadwaladr

Posted on 04/06/2019 3:18:34 PM PDT by ProtectOurFreedom

We and the Left are now two nations within one country. This is undeniable. We are now so different that we cannot even agree on what a country is, or on the merits of a country having a border. The number of people who still say, "I just don't care about politics" dwindles. It is still possible to hate both sides — but it is getting hard to be indifferent and still be breathing. How many people can just take or leave infanticide? How many people are entirely flexible about the idea of the government having authority over anything and everything, to experimenting with our fundamental demographics, or to giving up fossil fuels cold turkey? The abyss looms large beneath us.

We conservatives have let this ideological cancer metastasize for far too long for its excision to be simple or painless. For too long, we have been patient with outrages we should have fought to reverse. We have let our opponents secede incrementally from us for decades. We have been tolerant and patient...we have given up our civil society, our political representation, and our freedoms one by one. Our maladies won't be fixed by delicate adjustments now...Either the cancer wins, and kills us all, or we defeat it — and we accept the scars. Let us not pretend they would not be hideous scars. And let us not pretend it would not be a deeply barbarous and bitter surgery.

The titanic nations of the Left and right are rising en masse — flexing their muscles and snorting menacingly at one another. We cannot get out of their way. There is no safe part of the country, nor any genuinely safe haven left in any other country. This is a global conflict. We have run out of frontiers.

Cut off all welfare and the snowflakes and others will have to work or starve.

There was an article posted today about an “educational” conference. The biggest theme by far was “whiteness.” It eclipsed everything else. My sister teaches in an inner city black school in the Mid Atlantic area and says that racial hatred toward whites is growing exponentially. She hasn’t seen anything like it in her 40 years of teaching. White teachers are being forced out.

This is part and parcel of what you are predicting.

There will probably be so many lawsuits resulting from the 2020 election that the whole concept of “peaceful transfer of power” is thoroughly dead and buried. 2000 and 2016 will look like cakewalks. Leftists always want to do away with elections or have Soviet-style sham elections.

I checked that, too. SURPRISE, then author's right. Suleiman the Magnificent tried it then and got whipped just like his successor did in 1683.

What would it look like? Carnage and barbarism without quarter. It will be beyond ugly.

ProtectOurFreedom:

So do you think we would have 30 liberal “pockets” (i.e., city states) surrounded by an enormous conservative landmass? How can that work?

Other than Miami and Chicago the rest of it is pretty contiguous....at least for the most part. The coastal strip along the Pacific is a Leftist block. The inland areas of all those states is in our camp. Chicago is the only true "island". Greater Miami is surrounded but borders the ocean. The strip from Occupied Northern Virginia running northward along the coast through Maine is another Leftist block. The rest of NY, the rest of Pennsylvania other than Philly is with us. Sure, there would be places like Austin, Texas but that's not big enough to stand on its own. I doubt even a more left leaning city like Denver or Minneapolis would be big enough to stand on their own surrounded by real Americans.

“What would such a conflict look like with no clear geographical or physical boundaries between the parties?”

I strongly suggest you study our first civil war from 1775 to 1783 that was wrapped into America’s revolutionary war against England. It was brutal.

Does anybody see a way out of this? What would such a conflict look like with no clear geographical or physical boundaries between the parties?

__________
It will start out as confusing and undefined. Then both sides will get uniforms and lines will be drawn. It will be the coast vs the middle.

The alternative is several million dead.

________________

The alternative is a lot more than several million. Leftist estimates in the 70's were about 25 million.

Given the population increases and the advent of electronic tracing I see that count going way up over 100 million.

Easily This probably could be prevented... however it requires forethought, courage, and initiative. Not sure that this is in much evidence in the US.

Trump would not be a leader to initiate a Pinochet type rule, he is in the middle of being coup-ed. He doesn't have the military brass behind him and he is not of that sort of temperament.

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family?

Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?...

The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn't love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.” ―

Aleksandr I. Solzhenitsyn , The Gulag Archipelago 1918–1956

One Freeper astutely suggested that it would look a lot like the Spanish Civil War of the 1930s.

Yes, like that conflict - mixed with the 1990s Balkans mess.

Elect only those politicians who will take the Left to task and demand that they push back hard against them. This is political war.

I firmly believe that we're past the point of a political solution.

Half the country doesn't even accept the results of the 2016 election, and wants to tear down every vestige of our history, our culture, our language, and our long established form of government. They don't recognize our laws, our customs, the Constitution, our Judeo-Christian values, objective reality, or even plain horse sense.

In short, they have become unmoored from our formerly shared American Ideals.

We are quite literally attempting to do business with people who don't subscribe to even the most fundamental western concepts that our form of self government relies upon to work.

Politics isn't possible with such people, therefore there will be war. It's only a matter of when.

Atlanta. Charlotte. Jacksonville. Birmingham. Any major urban area.

These are also transportation and communication hubs.
