COLUMBUS, OhioA proposed Ohio constitutional amendment to award the states presidential electoral votes to the winner of the national popular vote has cleared an initial hurdle toward making the statewide ballot this November.
A summary of the proposed amendment was certified by Attorney General Dave Yost on Monday as a fair and truthful statement of the proposed law, though Yost didnt weigh in on whether he supported or opposed the measure.

How is this even legal?
Ummm.. so Ohio voters dont get a vote???
They just gonna say “whatever every one else wants!”????
It’s completely inconceivable to me how or why the people of a state would vote for this. I have zero understanding of how this has any appeal at all.
The rats are busy gathering as many states with few electoral votes as well. I think this movement is a real threat, so many don’t understand the electoral college and believe their votes would count more with popular vote. People in small states like where I live in NM have no clue how the electoral college works FOR them.
this is unconstitutional....we’re a republic, not a democracy with mob rule..
I’m wondering how this might help Trump, give him an even bigger landslide in 2020.
Have they even glanced at that thingy written some 200 plus years ago regarding how the president is elected? Cause I do believe there are some words which would put a spanner in their scheme.
The theory is that it is legal because the states have a right to run their elections. I am not a lawyer so no idea but that was the talking point when our legislature was discussing it.
They’re voting on whether to disenfranchise themselves (and their children).
“you want California to cast Ohio’s votes?”
that should be the ad against this initiative - and it ought to kill it.
Explain that to John Roberts and the rest of the libs on the SCOTUS.
Why vote?
An Ohio vote is virtually meaningless then.
Kasich sucks until his lemgs explode.
States can pass laws. They need ‘permission’ from Congress to enter into any compact or agreement between the states.
Its not unconstitutional.
It is stupid.
Which words? Post them.
In other words - Ohio voters could very well have their electoral votes go to a candidate they did NOT choose... this is absurd.
