Mexico's top immigration official said Monday the country will not order the militarization of the border with Guatemala as caravans of residents from Central American countries make their way north.
Interior Secretary Olga Sánchez Cordero said Mexico will regulate and provide security to migrants from Central America, El Universal newspaper reported.
She added that President Andrés Manuel López Obrador's government is "not repressive" and won't militarize its southern border "under any circumstances."
Sánchez Cordero's comments follow López Obrador's vow to respond with "peace and love" to U.S. threats to close the U.S.-Mexico border.
President Trump vowed in recent days to shut down the southern border -- the world's busiest commercial frontier --

On my Corona? Perish the thought
“But, but, well only have 20 days worth of avocados if the border is closed;”
No avocado toast for the hipsters and soy boys!
I LIKE it.
but if I can’t get my Coronalitos, what will I do with all the limes?
How about we establish a bounty on illegals of say...$1000 each. Subjects must be in reasonably good condition (no holes above the belt) and turned over to ICE ASAP for deportation to Easter Island. We have hundreds of thousands of vets who could use some extra cash and have been trained in marksmanship and hand to hand combat. WIN WIN situation
“Im under the impression that Mexico believes that the U.S. cannot afford to allow our economy to suffer from a prolonged border shutdown, so there is no reason for Mexico to change their current stance.”
All our domestic enemies have told them this is true.

How magnanimous would cordero be if the migrants intended to stay in Mexico???

The Mexican leader’s full name is: President Andrés Manuel López Obrador Pinche Puta Pindejo.
We should start going straight to the Mexican people, and telling them what kind of country they could have if they kicked out the corruption - including the majority of current politicians and bureaucrats. We should make a concerted effort to out dirty politicians in Mexico - focusing on a new one every week.
The ports of entry are the major drug and human smuggling routes, and the roads the major drug smuggling routes.
True enough. All the more reason for a more thorough (and time consuming) inspection before admittance to the US. If Mexico isn’t going to be helpful on the border there is no reason for the Trump admin to be, either.
Well at least Threaten to close them down again the first two threats didn't work maybe third time will be charmed.
No problem as long as we have baby turds.
I could give it all up, right now.
Gotcher piece and luv right here, homey.
“As an added bonus, it will teach foreign and American multinationals that locating in Mexico was not a wise business decision.”
That sounds fair to me. We will be waiting longer for our Dodge truck, but that’s fine. They should never have been moving their business over there, and not hiring Americans anyway.
Big surprise - not. He knows Pres. Trump won’t completely shut the border because of the financial harm to American companies. So now what?
“kicked out the corruption - including the majority of current politicians and bureaucrats.”
Problem is...... we have our own corruption and whatnot that needs dealt with.
The silver lining would be to force them back to this side and set up shop.
Viola..... more manufacturing jobs.
