A mom refused to take her ... toddler to the hospital ... Armed police officers tore down the door.

The scene looks like something from a middle-of-the-night drug raid. Guns drawn, police officers in tactical vests surround a beige ranch house in a subdivision. With a single decisive kick, one busts down the door. “Come out with your hands up!” an officer yells, as a flashlight’s blinding beams begin sweeping the room.

But police in Chandler, Ariz., weren’t seeking out a trove of illegal narcotics when they showed up at the modest home in the Phoenix suburbs on Feb. 25. Instead, they were searching for a 2-year-old who had come down with a dangerously high fever. The boy’s mother, Sarah Beck, had allegedly ignored doctors’ orders and refused to take him to the emergency room, fearing that she would get in trouble because he wasn’t vaccinated. When officials showed up to do a welfare check hours later, the child’s father refused to let them in, saying that everything was fine and the fever had passed. Eventually, police decided to take matters into their own hands.

There is no mention in the article that the doctor thought the baby might have meningitis nor were symptoms consistent with that possibility mentioned. So I have to ask, where you are pulling your information from?

There is also the consideration that bringing an infant/toddler to the ER can expose them to lots and lots of nasty germs increasing their risk of contacting a serious illness.

And the child was better.

The vax argument is an interesting one for me.

No logic on either side. All emotion.

It honestly makes me very suspicious that it is a test case on manipulation.

If you bothered to read and put together my whole comment you would have seen, the very first words “I can see the need for this in some cases”

Yes govts can get out of control or even have mistaken or unnecessary situations happen but their original responsibility is to protecting the people. You and others on FR so fearful of govt take over of people’s lives well you’d be singing a different tune if disease outbreaks happen because state or medical people can’t check up on possible diesease spreader.

Other articles on this family’s sitution is that all the kids were hospitalized. The parents and others can whine about inteference but who’s to say for certain the hospitalization did not thwart one or more of the kids having a more serious problem if left at home? Not to mention the condition of the home inside, apparently the kids were not being well cared for.

Some years back I almost rented a room from a family who were foster parents, once i saw the complete shambles of the home the sticky grimy kitchen and bath, the disgusting 2 refridgerators with obvious old oozing foods jam packed in on the shelves with supposedly new food i realized it would be a health hazard for me to live there. I could not believe the state would allow these people to foster a less than one year old. mix in the multiple pets hair, nasty carpets etc. Some people don’t take care for their natural or foster, adopted kids well and why should kids suffer?

These kids in above article were suffering with various levels of illness and needed care not being done by the parents. I’m not for traditional medicine Rx for everything, but these parents just needed to open the door but they knew they were in the wrong in many ways so they rebelled and created a bigger mess.

The problem underlying the “immunity of the herd” argument is that we are not a herd, we are free people, not possessions of the state.
Benjamin Franklin once said: “Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.”

In your case you are arguing that others should give up their freedoms for your liberties, a clearly leftist mantra.

In reality vaccination given to one slave does not confir immunity to other slaves, your premise is faulty to begin with.

If you add in the very real danger of the militarized medical crony capitalism and fascism you are putting euthanasia in the hands of the proponents of the “Green new deal”, a danger as likely to kill more people than the black death.

What is more of a danger to you in reality? A childhood disease or an overzealous gestapo agent with a machine gun trying to “cure” rebellion?

The children were taken to the hospital not hospitalized. It does not follow they children were suffering from various degrees of illness. None of the articles make that claim. It is somewhat routine to take children who are placed in DCS custody for medical examination. It does not mean they were sick-it just means DCS is being cautious. Which is fine. You don’t want to place an ill child in a foster home with other healthy children.

This is not a federal problem. Let Arizona deal with it.

Amazing how many supposed freepers think this is okay. Using govt to “save the life of one child” like this is in fact not ok. It grows and grows until there are govt cameras in every home.

Never mind that all vaxes are not created equal. Many are completely worthless and are only approved because of a corrupt FDA/Pharma revolving door.

Totalitarian freaks. They are rife on both sides of the aisle. All with the “best of intentions”.

I did read your comment.

I thought it had lots to commend it.

I also posted my own.

Why take it personally?

that someone from the medical community can call the police and next thing you know you and your family are treated like El Chappo, is a mighty disturbing thing

Yes, even more disturbing than last night's thread about this incident, where the SWAT factor was lost in the cyclone. There are laws protecting people who opt out of vaccinations, aren't there? Now, apparently, we need laws protecting people opting out of late night military intrusions and child seizing.

This is not simply a mother refused treatment for her son “with high fever” after doctor’s order for follow-up.

We know that her fear is because she didn’t vaccinate her son properly, so whatever made the child sick is likely some very highly contagious disease.

And that’s how we hear breakouts all over the country. I don’t want my child endangered any more than I want regular citizens suffering.

Militarized peace-keeping officers is not the major point of this story.

Somehow this doesn't sound exactly like a no-knock raid

I would be banned for life if I stated exactly what I think of your comment. To put it mildly, you don't seem to understand individual rights, parental rights, and may actually think doctors have standing above parents. You must have a naive blind faith in the corporate medial machine known for misdiagnosis, and missed diagnosis, as a common daily occurance.

May you never get stuck between the state and corporate medicine.

I never focused on the style of the action here, instead concerned with the child endangerment. SWAT-style is definitely over the top, and if that was what I was discussing, I’d have said so. The police are too militaristic and seem to want to play with those toys, to overreact, be the bullies because they can. Power has gone to their head. On these we agree. Thanks.

Well, the readers at the WP are 100% behind the police, forced vax, taking all the children away. I didn’t know there were so many totalitarians hwre.

I believe that, in addition to the indoctrinated government/public school simpletons, the agencies of the government funded and stood up artificial intelligence to respond in the comments with government propaganda. This is to make conservatives feel defeated.

There were Fed Gov RFPs (Requests For Proposal) uncovered back in the '90s for this technology. Now, you can buy a rules based system off the shelf that can be used for this purpose.

I would not be surprised if numerous FreeRepublic accounts are actually Gov propaganda accounts.
