Dicks Sporting Goods took a loss of an estimated $150 million in sales last year after the company heavily restricted firearm purchases and began advocating for gun control.
The company made various policy changes after a school shooting in Parkland, Florida, left 17 dead. It announced it would no longer sell modern sporting rifles or high-capacity magazines and increased the purchase age for all firearms to 21.
Dicks also hired anti-gun lobbyists to promote gun restriction legislation, despite saying it still supports the Second Amendment.
The system does not work, said Edward Stack, Dicks CEO. Its important that when you know theres something thats not working, and its to the detriment of the public, you have to stand up.

Was at meadowood the other day and sort of chuckled wondering if there was any activity there. Surely not from me. We’ve gotten some bargains at sportsmans warehouse.
I wonder if Edward is married?
I mean, is he a single stack or a double stack?
Life is hard. It’s even harder for dicks.
Don’t be a Dick!
Only Dicks still shop at Dicks.
Nope, they didn’t listen and now they have just SCHLONGED themselves!
The very new store near me (Central TX) is closed.
Get woke, go broke.
Yeah right. It amazes me just how deaf these ceos could be but then I remember that they are libs and have an agenda.Maybe the stockholders are fine with it.I wouldnt be.
It just shows they didnt really know their customers.
Yes we have serious mental health issues in this country. When we started worrying more about the rights of mentally ill people than the safety of others we started on a very slippery slope.
Now it is nearly impossible to get mental health help for someone that is not agreeable or compliant. It is nearly impossible for families to get members placed in a mental health facility against there will, even for an evaluation. If the mentally ill person does not want help they are normally left to wander and do as they, most end up homeless and some decide to go on murder sprees. That is reality.
I am old enough to know many of the old mental hospitals were a horror, and we had to do something. The problem is there is a lot of ground between locking people up and allowing them to be abused and letting them be free to abuse and murder other people. The system needed work and we just trashed it instead.
The truth is these mass shooters are mentally ill, as are those that use bombs, cars, whatever weapon they can. The socialists would rather blame the weapon and law abiding owners of firearms than deal with the real issues of mental illness. The bonus is they are slowing disarming us in the process so that is a win for them if they can get that done.
When I was a child every pickup had a rifle rack in the back window, at least one rifle in it all the time. Those pickups were often parked on main street unlocked, with windows down. No one bothered them. When I was in high school half the pickups in the parking lot at school had rifles in the back window. We had fist fights at school almost daily but no one went for a rifle when they were right there.
We give too many rights to mentally ill people and criminals and do it at our own peril. The socialists have coddled criminals and protected the mentally ill at a high price to the all of us.
I think they're mostly initiated at the HR level.
HR departments from what I've seen are an enclave of radical Leftism within large corporations. Unlike the other departments, their mission is not to make money to keep the company successful.
Their mission is to use the clout of the corporation to "punish the evil-doers" - ie conservatives, Christians, Republican politicians, etc ... even if this makes the company bleed $$$ and market share. To them, that trade-off is well worth it. They just have to disguise their intentions well enough to get the CEO level to buy off on their plans.
So they go to the CEO with a Chicken Little "Sky is Falling!!" narrative of: "We're getting badly bloodied on social media for not [blindly jumping onto the latest Leftist Bandwagon Du Jour]. We must do something quick, or we'll lose gobs of customers. Just look right here what twitter is saying about our inaction, and what Facebook is saying, and the mainstream media [ie HuffPost, DailyKos, Democratic Underground, etc]."
Any HR department worth its salt should be able to tell the difference between a cleverly disguised robotic attack, versus a genuine groundswell of discontent from real customers. Social media is their area of specialty after all.
But they'll be damned if they're going to point out to the CEO the difference between an army of angry customers versus an army of fake robots all controlled from one central website by a single person. So when the CEO's hear enough of this endless litany of Fake Bad News for too long, they often succumb.
I first noticed in the mid-90s that HR departments I was familiar with were very, very strong supporters of the LGBT agenda.
In the mid-00s, I noticed that the HR departments I was familiar with were now actually composed of homosexuals at high levels.
But now that the issue of same-sex marriage is "Settled Science" according to Anthony Kennedy, who with a single USSC decision, wiped out the "one-man one-woman marriage" laws of over 20 States, the HR Leftists have now moved on to the next items below that on the agenda ... eg the Constitutional Right of a dirty old man to "self-identify" as something else in order to gain access to girls in public restrooms, to name just one cause.
“Love is fleeting,” Stack said, “hate is forever.”
What a jackA$$ !
I don’t even own a gun, and I stopped going to Dick’s.

Wonder if they can figure out what went wrong? Oh, banning hunting rifles, too. So, I guess not...
Gillette is no doubt feeling the pain.
Truely. Who gives a f&&k. You pick your side. If you cant live through your choice eff off.
Profit margins in retail are a small percentage of sales. I’d wager that a loss of $150 million took a big bite out of net profits.
When they became anti-Second Amendment, I stopped going into Dicks and haven't been back since.
