Today's decision increases the H-2B cap by "only" 30,000, rather than the full 67,000 Congress authorized, but this surge nonetheless increases the cap to 96,000. Not even under President Obama did H-2B visas rise to such high levels....President Trump continues to increase the number of H-2B guestworkers every time he has the opportunity. This is entirely his own administration's fault. He could, at any time, direct Secretary Nielsen to not increase the cap.

This is the third year in a row that trump has raised the quota on H2B. Everybody knows his hotels and golf courses hire lots of H2B
Figured it’d be a disaster. It should be eliminated altogether until we deport all those who came (along with their chained relatives) and forgot to go home on the appointed date.
Problem is temporary quickly turns into permanent when they forget to leave. Add a few anchor babies and there’s no getting rid of them - IF anyone bothers to look into their records.
Because they don’t want to. They put in ridiculous requirements that Americans can’t fill and then say oh well we must bring over a H-1B from India who doesn’t have the requirements either but often lie about it.
> H1B is for techs and is a far more concerning
It’s not concerning any more. It’s done.
The white Americans who have kept jobs anywhere near IT are now doing non-technical work and bossing technical people. The scum that was able to rise to the top of the pile.
Those people are retiring now, and will be replaced by Indians.
Another wave of retirements in the VP ranks, and they will be replace by Indians.
I want to be an Indian.
Thats why its foolish to harass Ann Coulter. She has no problem holding his feet to the fire on immigration. And she is right. Still too many globalist dirtbags and Open borders scumbags in the White House aNd DHS.
Too bad trump did
Not do what every other new president does: Fire the holdovers from his enemies.
Microsoft and Google have them as CEOs, and are filling the ranks behind them.
I know someone in cybersecurity and over half the techs they had servicing USG contracts requiring code-word level clearance have left. They had 12, they are down to 4.
Old three letter guy got replaced by a CEO handpicked guy and blew the place up. Everybody there was in such high demand the exodus took less than 45 days.
It’s a head shaker. The boards are letting this happen too. Not sure what they’re thinking.
If you are old and worried about low-level workers you have already missed the boat all on your own.
How about a little perspective? Trump’s policies have added more new jobs to the economy every month than all the H2B visas combined.
they cLoBBERED me about 3 years back!!
i was practically driven off the boards by One Worlders with pitchforks!!!
I wonder where they all went
It’s a complete and dangerous fantasy!!!
We need to let Trump know.
We all said we’d never close our eyes tight again after bush II.
He does great things, a lot, Trump does.
He needs to be reminded how we feel about this.
I know what you mean. I charged them with greed and avarice, and they screamed “Free enterprise! Capitaism! We’re in business to make a profit!”, at me. While I believe in those three things, “what profits it a man, if he gain the world, and lose his soul?”
Amen!!
Stock options drove many insane.
And I dont know if it benefits a company because those people will lie, cheat and steal to get that price up.
I dunno.
Seems like in the ‘50s, though i was born in ‘68, but from what i was told, it was a different story.
My worry about exogenous ‘low level workers’ is that my fellow citizen ‘low level workers’ become poorer, less employed, and more welfare oriented at my and our nation’s expense.
“Why give in on only this issue when he hasnt on others?!”
He’s surrounded by enemies in his administration. Even enemies in his family. He may be taking bad advice or he may have no choice. Who’s to know?
you likely just answered it.
I agree with that, and you don’t have to go off the deep end Socialist to grasp it.
I’m all for owners making as much profit as they can, but I don’t want that done by screwing your workers who have a family to support.
At then end of the day, I’d like to know my savings wasn’t tainted by causing financial problems in the households of my employees.
Each business is a bit different. If the boss insn’t making much money, employees have to be understanding too. Keeping the business open so they have jobs is an important goal.
I laugh when I see the fast food places having to raise their wages. You know darn well they’ll eliminate positions to meet the legal requirements.
We are at record low unemployment. These are legal immigrants filling needed positions.
Well, these visas are not for the foreign young tech whippersnappers. Here in Maryland, the blue crab industry on the Eastern Shore has a severe labor shortage. The companies that package crabmeat can’t find domestic workers to do the job anymore. In the old days, older negro women would pick the crabs but nowadays none of these Americans want to do the work so the crab houses have had to resort to seasonal foreign labor. With an increase in these visas, Trump is enabling these businesses to stay in business.
