Things in DC are about to get ugly. Big ugly. Two MAGA freight trains are heading full-speed toward each other and there aint no spur between em.
The conductor of one engine is HPSCI ranking member Devin Nunes who will be sending criminal referrals to AG Barr next week based on existing evidence and testimony. The conductor of the opposing engine is Senate Judiciary Chairman Lindsey Graham, who wants AG Barr to ignore the criminal referrals and instead launch another Special Counsel which will be guaranteed to carry into the 2020 election year.
Both are not backing down. Lindsey Graham had dinner tonight with AG Barr to pressure him for his side. Lindsey Graham also has the ear of the President
. Devin Nunes has no access to President Trump to give him advice to ignore Lindsey Graham. Whoever wins the influence battle will determine the 2020 election.

I missed the part explaining why they can’t do both.

The way to go is with a “Special Counsel’, but so far, the White House is pushing a lame-ass “Senate Hearings’. Senate Hearings is code word for “Lets play nice’. Play Nice with the Dems Trump, and they will bury you.

The list of referrals will be passed along to Huber, who will do what he has done with the list of concerns from the House and Senate. Nothing.
How about appointing former US Attorney, former AG CoS, and former Acting AG Whitaker to investigate. He seems like quite a bull dog, and would not be afraid to go after these guys.

Horowitz white-washed his last report. He has as much integrity as a sand flea. I have zero faith in OIG. His primary function is to protect the criminals in the nations top law enforcement agency.

isn’t a “Special Counsel” just another name for a professional whitewasher to beat around the bush and keep it trimmed ?

Has Nunes ever said he is against a Special Counsel?
Or is that a spin Sundance is imposing on the circumstances?
There is nothing at all contradictory about Congress making criminal referrals to the DOJ and the DOJ appointing a Special Counsel.
To: MtnClimber
I trust Trump to do the correct thing.

I vote for criminal investigations. Special Prosecutors are political animals by nature and have generally disappointed whoever appointed them. Salvage the few honest FBI agents from the wreckage of Comey FBI and go after the corruption once and for all. Get some Untouchables to finally drain the swamp.

I remember there was a rumor of sealed indictments. Idk if they really even exist. How would we know, if they are sealed?

Gosh, I really hope rank and file republicans really come together now to assault our liberal enemies. Naw. They'd rather be "nice" squishes.

Perhaps, once the criminal referrals are provided to the DOJ, the IG report can be released.
Events from here on out are not left to chance. The effort is carefully scripted. There is, believe it or don’t, close cooperation between the Republican Congress and the President who is the leader of the Republicans

I wonder why both couldn't be pursued simultaneously? I am not sure which is better, but I have to wonder why we need a special council at all. Why cant DOJ do law enforcement? What is the problem that we need to go to an unaccountable star chamber to find justice? If laws are broken, book'em Dano.
