military exercises on Venezuelan soil that President Nicolas Maduro called a sign of strengthening relations. Two Russian air force planes landed in Venezuela's main airport on Saturday carrying a Russian defense official and nearly 100 troops, according to a local journalist, amid strengthening ties between Caracas and Moscow.
A flight-tracking website showed that two planes left from a Russian military airport bound for Caracas on Friday, and another flight-tracking site showed that one plane left Caracas on Sunday.
Reporter Javier Mayorca wrote on Twitter on Saturday that the first plane carried Vasily Tonkoshkurov, chief of staff of the ground forces, adding that the second was a cargo plane carrying 35 tonnes of material.

From AFP via YAHOO:
“General Vasily Tonkoshkurov, head of the Mobilization Directorate of Russia’s armed forces...:
From globalsecurity.org:
“Its Main Organization and Mobilization Directorate determines the assets the force needs to perform strategic operations.
“I think you are correct..a security detail to get Maduro/family and other high ranking scum out.”
One hundred soldiers makes for just the right size force to empty out the remaining gold, emeralds, dollars and cocaine. The general is just using this as an excuse for a little warm-weather Spring Break.

he likes to take trips to third-world crapholes.
Sorry about that. I appreciate that you were thinking similar. :)
They’ll be ‘advisers’!
Agree !! Stay Safe troop !
I have mixed feelings about the troops in exile. I doubt they have the killer insticnt to retake Venezuela with or without US help. Nor do I have much faith in any multi S.American forces..
Thanks.
They are hoping the U.S. is coming. Read the article, tell stories that troops are scared to run because the government will torture their families, etc.
Or President Nicolas Maduro's get outta Dodge bus into exile in Moscow.
BOOM !!!
But no food or medical help.
Double-think is easy for lefties 'cuz it doesn't involve actual thinking.
No we don’t. The other half of the Monroe Doctrine was that we don’t interfere in European affairs. People forget that part of the doctrine.
Sewer, storm sewer, about the same thing when power goes out.
The Russians are there to ‘save guard’ the gold bullion.
Cant trust his own troops eh?
*** Sewer, storm sewer, about the same thing when power goes out. ***
Reuters was the first to run that story. It was picked up by the rest of the lying media. Why do some FReepers still trust any news from lame stream media? Shades of WMD and Iraq.
The “sewer” pic was of a spring that empties into the Guaire River.
Reuters Venezuela insisting on a lie, hoping it will stick. Water coming out is from an underground spring that flows into the Guaire river. This has been widely reported and some of the people at the scene were interviewed at the time who assured that the water was not sewage.
That lie went over like a lead balloon with Chavistas b/c it also speaks to the attitude of these elites that poor people would give their children sewer water.
“What about the 35 tonnes of material?”
Consumables to support their mission: Food, medicine, ammo, fuel.
Mission is probably to secure/NEO Russian embassy staff and civilians.
Im not sure the Russians want Maduro, but I wouldnt be surprised if they dropped him off in Cuba.
“” “”
Been there done that. smile.
I dont really think Russia wants to provoke USA.
Nor do I think Trump wants to provoke Russia. But Trump does not bluff. Putin knows that.”” “”
Currently it looks like what’s good for a goose is good for the gander.
When US officials say Brezhnev’s doctrine is dated they shouldn’t be surprised at Russians saying the same about Monroe’s.
