I have been using the old Time Warner email for over thirty years.Spectrum has taken them over.
I think it is time to disconnect my email from my ISP. I am would like a non google, non cloud based email if it exists. What are the best options?
I need one that works well with outlook.
Your recommendations would be appreciated.

startmail.com
protonmail
1and1.com now IONOS
Super dirt cheap to get your own email domain with tons of email addresses. Ive had my original S-Corp domains since early 2000s and theyve gotten better.
We’ve been on “netzero.com” for years. I think it’s $24.00/ yr. Seems okay. Gets dumped in the outlook mail but I suppose I could go straight to their site if I wanted. Good or bad? It works for us. Don’t know who’s lurking there.
I use gmail, but thats evil around these parts...
I just looked at proton mail. Even the free one is pretty good, and I like their encryption.

Honest Nigerian agrees with that.
protonmail is a great choice. System is designed from ground up to be hyper-secure. You can get a 500MB box for free and 5GB for 48 euros a year.
bflr
I just got an account with them. VPN access as well.
Protonmail. It’s based in Switzerland I believe and is encrypted.
If I were you I would sign up for PROTONMAIL
outlook.com works great, but it’s cloud based (but non-google).
Centurylink is poor on a good day.
I’ve used inbox.com for years. I pay for it, but you get real customer service - quick answers too, when needed. I have a place to store information/notes; pictures or files so if I go on the road & don’t have a usb storage device I can load it up there and access the document (and email) right online when I get there.
You’ve got a contact list and a calendar with it, even so I can save my appointments & get reminders as I like them. I even have it tied up to outlook and my cell.
In the 10-15 years I’ve had it, it’s gone down, I think, maybe twice, but when I emailed the customer service to ask about it, whammo, they were on the ball to check and assure me.
LOVE these guys.
neomailbox.net
Encrypted at a high level, protected legally in Switzerland, good company.
Gmail is easiest solution, simple, free, and can use via browser or Outlook or your mobile devices. I use it for personal and family. I ignore the privacy issues as they are universal.
