DHS on track to nab 100,000 illegals at border this month

The government is on track to catch nearly 100,000 illegal immigrants at the border this month, Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen said Monday, renewing the administration’s plea for Congress to do something.

That number would be the worst in more than a decade, and it’s more troubling than the worst years because the migrants are children and families who despite being unauthorized, are almost impossible to deport.

“The situation at our Southern Border has gone from a crisis, to a national emergency, to a near systemwide meltdown,” Ms. Nielsen said in delivering an update on the state of her department 16 years after it was established.

Ms. Nielsen said the border wall is part of the solution, but also said Congress must change the laws to allow for detention and faster deportations of illegal immigrant children and families.

According to the latest numbers, 98 percent of those caught at the border in 2017 is still in the U.S. today, underscoring how difficult it is to remove them in the current framework.

And why would she keep saying our laws need to be changed when the Constitution gives the POTUS plenary authority over national security? And if that's not enough, there's this:

8 U.S. Code § 1182, entitled “Inadmissible aliens,” reads:

Suspension of entry or imposition of restrictions by President

Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate. Whenever the Attorney General finds that a commercial airline has failed to comply with regulations of the Attorney General relating to requirements of airlines for the detection of fraudulent documents used by passengers traveling to the United States (including the training of personnel in such detection), the Attorney General may suspend the entry of some or all aliens transported to the United States by such airline

That would work, except for the fact that no one will refuse them food stamps, welfare checks, free medical, free schooling, IRS refunds, social security checks, disability payments, charitable gifts, jobs, housing, legal representation, etc.

There isn't a wall on Earth that can stop the third world horde from crashing our borders as long as that carrot remains dangling.

if 100k/month are being caught at the border, why did congress critters have all the contention about 40 or 45,000 beds?

I know what you mean. The only thing is, right now “apprehended” or “arrested” sounds to Americans like it’s a good thing. An recent article proudly said that 750 illegal invaders had been “apprehended”. It later said that almost all of them had to be taken to a (AMERICAN) hospital due to having participated in the “dangerous” trek to the border. I guess this was before taking them to the welfare office. That’s BS. Stop “apprehending” them! You aren’t doing the taxpayers any favors!

That’s the real rub. Likely 90 to 100 percent are catch and release into USA. 9th circuit just came down with a ruling less than a month ago that everyone has a right to a 2 year appeal so they all get to stay.

It’s the Immigration Court system that needs to be done away with while we have a five year closing while restructuring (purging the Democrat Party judges funneling in voters).

Our little podunk county turned over 100+ illegals to ICE and US Marshals last week. It was the norm. Multiply that by across the nation. Naw, no crisis, move along.
