New Zealand authorities have reminded citizens that they face up to 10 years in prison for “knowingly” possessing a copy of the New Zealand mosque shooting video – and up to 14 years in prison for sharing it. Corporations (such as web hosts) face an additional $200,000 ($137,000 US) fine under the same law.
Terrorist Brenton Tarrant used Facebook Live to broadcast the first 17 minutes of his attack on the Al Noor Mosque in Christchurch, New Zealand at approximately 1:40 p.m. on Friday – the first of two mosque attacks which left 50 dead and 50 injured.

Copies of Tarrant’s livestream, along with his lengthy manifesto, began to rapidly circulate on various file hosting sites following the attack, which as we noted Friday – were quickly scrubbed from mainstream platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Scribd. YouTube has gone so far as to intentionally disable search filters so that people cannot find Christchurch shooting materials – including footage of suspected multiple shooters as well as the arrest of Tarrant and other suspects.
On Saturday, journalist Nick Monroe reported that New Zealand police have warned citizens that they face imprisonment for distributing the video, while popular New Zealand Facebook group Wellington Live notes that “NZ police would like to remind the public that it is an offence to share an objectional publication which includes the horrific video from yesterday’s attack. If you see this video, report it immediately. Do not download it. Do not share it. If you are found to have a copy of the video or to have shared it, you face fines & potential imprisonment.”

But, the authorities in different countries can make it difficult for the mass of the public to find it. Some will always find it, but not the masses.
That’s why I figure everyone should ‘practice’ finding these things so that when governments get better at deleting these things (whatever they deem is ‘not suitable’) we can still get the information. Try developing your methods to getting it ... now.

They won’t go after Facebook because they have removed 1.5 million instances of the video on their site.
In fact, I posted it on my page, and I was suspended for doing that (they said it would be one week).
So once again people have to give up their rights for the benefit of muslims who hate them.
That’s just wrong. There’s not other way to put it. It’s a massive violation of people’s right to discuss such matters, and to understand it all, you need to be able to see what took place.
NZ is going postal here, and that won’t end well.
The difference here is that the ‘pushback’ for Free Speech is ‘social’ ... while the pushback in other countries is ‘legal’. That’s a big difference.
We’ve got legal Freedom of Speech, although we get a lot of social pushback from the Marxist/Leftist Democrats who don’t like our Free Speech going against their Marxist/Leftist Ideology.

My tin hat slipped a little, and I’m wondering if the reason they want to quash the video, and they are blurring the face of the guy in the current photos and videos of him in court and coming and going in custody.....
....is because the person in the streaming video of the event, is not the person they have in custody, and they know it, but don’t want us to figure it out..
Yeah like the Muslims cutting the neck of a living human being with a dirty knife without anesthesia? Those video’s are on the internet.

I watched the video. It has a surreal FPS video game look to it. Not particularly good quality though. With all the planning and effort that went in to visually documenting this event, I’m surprised he didn’t spend some money on a better camera. All things considered, 4K GoPros are pretty cheap.

NZ, 10 Years In Prison For “Possessing” Mosque Shooting Video
This is just as crazy as the shooting itself, not that I would care to watch the shooting itself, as I consider killing of any living thing a deplorable act, unless it is in self defense. Just shows how crazy the world overall has become.
Why do they want to censor it? I have seen it and it is mass cold-blooded murder of innocents that is hardly complimentary to the cowardly shooter. It should anger and horrify anyone who watches it.
What are they afraid of?
From the little I know, New Zealand has been wacko leftist for a while. This just reinforces my belief.
