On Friday Attorney General Bill Barr sided with President Trump. Barr said the president absolutely has the right to declare a national emergency on the southern border there. He says the veto is the right thing to do. And the declaration will hold up in a court of law.
AG Bill Barr: Mr. President your declaration of an emergency on the southern border was clearly authorized under the law and consistent with past precedent The humanitarian and security crisis that we currently have right now on the border is exactly the type of emergency that presidents are permitted to address.
Ann Coulter weighed in.
"CLEARLY LAWFUL" Attorney General Bill Barr on border emergency declaration. But I'm sure constitutional scholars Rand Paul & Lisa Murkowski know better. https://t.co/rd9ojWlTVs Ann Coulter (@AnnCoulter) March 15, 2019

“You are claiming that William Barr is not a Deep State RINO.
Is that correct?”
I am claiming nothing other than that your examples that he is are fallacious.
He may be he may not be, time will tell but his statement yesterday gives me some encouragement that he may not be. Victoria Toensing/Joe diGenova think very highly of the man which goes a long way to giving him credence in my mind.
A person can know the ins and outs of the deep state, how to work it, how to use it to ones advantage without being a part of it. My hope is that’s the case with Barr.
Oh, btw Mike Pompeo....(Lifetime ACU Rating: 97%)
Question: What would it take to appoint a special counsel to investigate the current deep state special counsel?
What steps would need to be taken? Is there any hope for a REAL investigation?
Why are Republicans going against Trump? Does someone in D.C. have dirt on some of these Rinos?
Ann's been falling on her sword on this issue - and she's right about Murkowski too...
“I wont say prayers even though shes one of Gods children.”
“one of God’s children” ... hmmm. Maybe. I believe that only born-again Christians truly are God’s children. He created her, but He created Satan as well.
By passing legislation to attempt to reverse Trump’s declaration of emergency, they are admitting that he has the authority to do so.
About 45 Democrats voted against Bob Barr in December 2019.
Hmmm, that's interesting. A bunch of FReepers screamed at the top of their lungs that William Barr was a "swamp creature" and "Deep state puppet" who couldn't be trusted. They also swore up and down that he was a "gun grabber" would will be coming for our guns any day now.
So we should ignore the latest statement of the "swamp creature" due to the fact the "deep state" controls him, right guys? Guys? ::crickets chirp::
My biggest worry is, would the courts grant a preliminary injunction? They can keep that going as long as the judicial circle jerk is on, and that would exacerbate the crisis exponentially.
Another FReeper told me an injunction can’t stop this.
Don’t know if it’s true.
Neither do I. All it takes is one left-coast district judge, though, who thinks he does have the power to stop it, and then it’s up to the 9th Circus for a nine-month delay.
Day Trump declared state of emergency the money was freed up. If the veto is sustained Trump can now go out and get whatever he needs. Dems once again overplayed their hand.
Hate to bother you again but what does if the veto is sustained mean?
The house and senate can vote on it again?
Can courts stop this kind of order?
thanks.
These are things not so easily found in a google search.
Or maybe I just don’t know what the heck words to put in :)
“Can courts stop this kind of order?”
I’ve heard a few on this forum that state definitively that they cannot but I’m not so sure they are correct.
There really are not many things a court in one way or another cannot exercise their will. Also there have been people on Fox today saying that between the courts tying this up and the Senate/House voting on it every 6 months, it may effectively bar the Exec order from realizing fruition.
You both still think we live in a country where the courts and the Constitution still matter?
The operative word in my challenge was “consequential.”
Our Intelligence agencies and the State Department are politically corrupted, from top to bottom. If Pompeo has had any impact at all on that corruption, I am not aware of it.
White House assistant Stephen Miller is also a Conservative. I know that because (LOL) the New York Times and the Washington Post exclaim it once a week. Allegedly, Miller is an immigration policy hawk. However, since Trump's only quantifiable immigration achievement has been reducing refugee admissions from 80,000 to 40,000, I am still waiting to see the results of Miller's hawkish policies.
Acting Chief of Staff and OMB Director Mike Mulvaney is also a Conservative. Unfortunately, Mulvaney’s first budget was $800 billion in debt, even though he had record tax collections, no wars, high employment, and low interest rates. Mulvaney’s second budget was already $100 billion more in debt than his first budget after the first two months (October and November) of Fiscal 2019. Mulvaney has also become an immigration dove since becoming OMB Director.
You’ll find it’s much easier to corrupt something than it is to uncorrupt it.
