The fake news media is dying.

The Washington Post was sold a few years ago for a measly $250 million to sugar daddy Jeff Bezos and CNN’s ratings and reputation are a national laughingstock. Without the corporate welfare of bundled cable, CNN could hardly exist today.

What’s killing the media is fake news, lies, bias, and extended hate campaigns against normal Americans. We are still getting our news, we are just getting it elsewhere. And if the choice is being lied to and insulted or no news at all, we prefer no news at all.

I know that everyone on FR has a favorite newspaper to hate on - but more than any, I’d love to see the Minneapolis StarTribune (aka The Red Star) go into Chapter 11 and shut down completely.

Their local news is respectable at best - but their fawning over people like Amy Klobuchar, groups like the Somalis and their extremely biased editorial page make me unhappy.

The thought of their editorial staff having to go out somewhere and get real jobs is something I’d love to see.

Excellent news!

And less than two months ago, Gannett laid off journalists across the country.

Self-inflicted.

When you get all your news/opinion from the DNC talking points, there's really no need for "journalists".

Investigation only leads to "agenda" problems when you find out the story really doesn't match the facts. In-depth reporting is not conducive to 10-second soundbites.

Original thoughts and "other viewpoints" are really not required, and only muddy up the meme.

No, you really only need typists who copy the spin, mixing up the words a little so it's not so obvious you're all working from the same script.

It’s pretty rare that I take any joy in seeing people lose their jobs.

In this case, I’m thrilled.
(However, I do have sympathy for the typesetters, delivery people, etc. who are caught in the crossfire).

I remember reading recently that President Trump signed an EO that ended funding to media outlets that Obama put into place.

Last week I stopped at a local fast food restaurant for breakfast. They had a copy of the local newspaper so I picked it up to read while I ate. It took me about 3 minutes to read the entire paper, 2 minutes of which was spent on the comics.
