An unvaccinated 6-year-old boy in Oregon spent 57 days in a hospital, including 47 days in the intensive care unit, and racked up almost $1 million in medical costs after being diagnosed with tetanus, according to a new report from the Centers for Disease Control.
The boy was Oregon's first case of tetanus in almost 30 years, according to the CDC, citing the Oregon Health Authority. Tetanus is caused by bacteria found in dirt that can enter the body through breaks in the skin, and vaccines are the best way to prevent it, per the CDC.
The child was cut while playing outside on a farm in 2017 and his wound was treated at home, according to the report, which was written for the CDC's Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report.

In that outbreak, 61 of the 70 cases were in non-immunized patients, according to the Clark County, Washington, Public Health Department.
The report also comes days after an Ohio teenager spoke to a Senate committee about getting vaccinated after growing up in an anti-vaccine home and after Facebook pledged to fight misinformation about vaccinations.
Six days after the Oregon boy got the cut, according to the CDC report, he had "episodes of crying, jaw clenching, and involuntary upper extremity muscle spasms," then had arching in his back and neck as well as more spasms. I am seething that WE might have to foot the bill but am grateful this only affected their poor son instead of being something contagious.
Also, CPS needs to be on them to see what other idiotic decisions they are making concerning their vulnerable children.

It would be cheaper to treat some of these diseases as they occur than to vaccinate EVERYBODY.
Most of the states added an insurance requirement when they adopted ‘no helmet’ laws for motorcyclists. Perhaps the same solution is needed for anti-vaxers - high insurance requirements with risk-based rates.

Try spending some time in the journals and deeply informative pages of Medical practices, immunology and many others and enlighten yourself.

It’s your proposition. See if you can come up with any cases where someone with proper tetanus prophylaxis has developed the disease.
But bottom line, non vaccination poses a bonafide threat to public health and failure protect oneself or their progeny can indeed infringe on others rights.
Therefor, comply with vaccinations or spend the rest of your life in required isolation.
The vast majority of anti-vaxers are white, upper middle class, college educated, coastal state, left-wing, Democrat or Green Party voting, atheists. And they all claim a “Religious” exception to vaccinations, despite being atheists.

I had the second Tetanus shot of my life this year after a dog bite. My first one was during surgery on my foot when I was 24 years old. I’m 64 now. I think I have been lucky since I have lived on a farm all my life working around farm equipment, rusty fences, etc. It was an easier shot to take than the flu shot. I was surprised.
Let’s see the math.
