House Democrats voted Friday to defend localities that allow illegal immigrants to vote in their elections, turning back a GOP attempt to discourage the practice.
The vote marks a stunning reversal from just six months ago, when the chamber — then under GOP control — voted to decry illegal immigrant voting.
“We are prepared to open up the political process and let all of the people come in,” Rep. John Lewis, a Georgia Democrat and hero of the civil rights movement, told colleagues as he led opposition to the GOP measure.
The 228-197 vote came as part of a broader debate on Democrats’ major legislative priority this year, HR 1, the “For the People Act,” which includes historic expansions of voter registration and access, as well as a major rewrite of campaign finance laws.
The measure would have had no practical effect even if it had passed. Illegal immigrants — and indeed noncitizens as a whole — are not legally able to participate in federal elections.

Wow. This is unreal. I knew this was their goal, but to put it out there so fast. Wow. Illegals voting. There goes 2020, and every election after that.
Am I allowed to vote in Canada? Mexico? Japan? Italy?
A serious WTF moment.
But that will change as soon as they can get their way.

If every Republican challenger does not use their votes against them in a campaign ad, then they deserve what they get!...............
They learned yesterday that there is NOTHING they can’t get away with. Their slogan for 2020 should be “No Shame”.
I haven’t heard if anyone (besides Don Trump Jr.) is hounding the dems about their jihadist congress member to renounce David Duke. Sometimes the Republicans just don’t jump when they should.

It only matters if citizen Democrats are horrified at their party trampling on their rights and vote accordingly. If they think more illegal votes means more free stiff for them, then it wont matter.
They still have to get it through the Senate and POTUS.
To ensure that they vote only in state and not federal elections would require separate ballots with no federal office entries. States are not going to do that. So the illegals will be voting in federal elections.

I’m actually a little confused by that line. I thought the point of the measure was to prevent illegal aliens from voting in state and local elections, not federal elections, and as the article points out, there are several localities, including San Francisco, that allow illegals to vote in at least some local elections.
America is getting a little sample of what government will be like if we give the Senate and POTUS back to these people.
Keep it up, Dems. Show the entire country how anti-American you are.
