Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR) on Wednesday slammed former National Intelligence Director James Clapper for claiming he did not purposely lie to Congress when asked about an NSA mass surveillance program in March 2013, saying he sent the longtime intelligence official the question ahead of the hearing.
James Clapper needs to stop making excuses for lying to the American people about mass surveillance. To be clear: I sent him the question in advance. I asked him to correct the record afterward. He chose to let the lie stand, the Oregon Democrat responded to Clappers excuse in a tweet.

Can the drawing and quartering start soon?
Please?
Put Clapper, whos a retired 3-star Air Force general officer, back on active duty and convene a courts martial.
BFL
Democrats don’t believe Clapper about NSA probe.
Democrats lap up everything Clapper says about Trump.
Of course it's rarely seen.
He's a POLITICIAN!
He's far more interested in keeping his job with all its perks and corrupt revenue flow than in "serving" the American people or this Nation.
I guess Wyden's been a leftist so long that he remembers when leftists despised -- rather than embraced -- the national intelligence agencies.
Wow, this Democrat must not have gotten the memo to provide cover for Clapper. Good to see that at least SOME Democrats care about government snooping.
He’ll be walking it back before sunset.
I must disagree with this statement.
Wyden is a scumbag Sylvester the puddy tat impersonator.
(i touht i taw a puddy tat)
He is just as radical as the rest. He just had an opportunity to get some face time here.
He doesn't even live in Oregon. He lives in New York
But he has a lock on his seat due to Oregon corruption and mail in voting.
Thanks for that insight. I guess he’s a master at appearing to be a reasonable person at times.
Ignorance and stupidity is an excuse for dishing the wrong ice cream flavor in a ice cream cone. It is not an excuse for his position.
