This is Rand Paul's most ill advised stand yet
American Thinker ^ | 03/07/2019 | Gavin Wax

Sen. Rand Paul loves the Constitution so much that he is willing to put it in jeopardy by opposing President Trump's emergency measures declaration. Paul's libertarian streak has emerged yet again — at a fortuitous time for Democrats hoping to import more voters and a calamitous time for conservatives desperate for a big victory on immigration.

"I can't vote to give the president the power to spend money that hasn't been appropriated by Congress. We may want more money for border security, but Congress didn't authorize it. If we take away those checks and balances, it's a dangerous thing," Paul said while addressing a Southern Kentucky Lincoln Day Dinner.

The above quote illustrates the problem with Paul's constitutionalist line of thinking. While Paul is concerned about proper procedure, his liberal enemies are advancing toward their next goal. While Paul is willing to surrender authority because of concerns over technicalities, the Democrats rush headlong into the next extra-constitutional power-grab that pushes the U.S. Republic closer and closer to dissolution. Paul's "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington" shtick is getting old, and his principles are not usually worth defending.

The principles of libertarians and Beltway "conservatives" always seem to conveniently align with those of big business and corporate capital. This is because of a well financed network of intellectual think-tanks, activist training, lobbying programs, and university infiltration that quietly peddles influence to enforce neoliberal globalist norms among the right. The Koch brothers, for example, are libertarians who use their vast resources to prevent popular trade and immigration reforms from being supported by Republicans in Congress.

The Constitution does, so it is time to reassert it, not ignore it and lie about it as Rand does.

Concertina wire with little brown kids hanging from it in their bright t shirts

Women too

Imagine the optics and the media’s glee

Careful what you wish for

A wall just makes more sense

All wars are foreign, unless they’re civil wars.

“He is against US involvement in foreign wars, but is OK with his own country being invaded.”

What’s amusing about this is the Rand Paul types only object to US intervention. They have no problem with for example Russian intervention in the ME. It’s the exact same hatred for the US projecting power that the left has. Those folks are some of the most self loathing people on the planet.

Do you think the Senate will get 67 senators on board to defeat Trump’s effort to use the money he has found elsewhere to build the wall?

If folks can’t give up cable tv..which is really not that difficult ..or really any number of things that are against their their own interest..do you think they would make a greater effort to take their kids out of public school.

Rand Paul is a charter member of the Powdered Wig Club. They are every bit as dangerous to our safety as the neo-Bolsheviks in the Democrat party.

I don’t understand why taxing remittances wasn’t at the top of the President’s agenda from the get-go.

There are numerous money transfer phone apps now. Taxing remittances is not as easy as it looks. And of course Congress would never agree to such law.

The same optics is there for ANY border defense.

Only way to get stuck in concertina wire is to walk into it.

No, I’m talking about we should be making an actual plan to stop illegal immigration and remove the 22 million who are already here, as opposed to wasting political capital. How much fentanyl gets stopped NOW by a wall that will not be built for months?

There is no such thing as a Paulestinian. Childish little made up word. Bet you were one of those idiots with “power of pride” stickers back in the day?

You people have been running the Republican party for a long time, and your hero W is a big reason why we are on the ropes. Obama and Congress, also.

His never ending quest to come across as the “reasonable adult” has fallen flat as he ignores the indisputable facts of what’s going on at our border and the danger it presents to our nation.

He is my senator and I have chewed his ass via his office the last few days for this latest stupidity. He reminds me of Major Powers in the movie Heartbreak Ridge. He is so anal and ridged about dotting every I and crossing every T that he manages to put people, his own people in danger. At this point he needs to stick to doing eye surgery because he sucks as a senator who would try and defend his country and state from a foreign invasion.

First part is a technical question that I can't really comment on, other than to say that the IRS does a more than adequate job finding various loopholes people use to hide their incomes, so the same should be possible for remittances. Will we get 100% of them? Probably not, but the same applies to any kind of tax evasion or indeed any other crime.

As to the second point, Congress won't agree on a border wall either, so if necessary, a remittance tax should be pushed through via executive order too in order to pay for the wall.

Basically, I was trying to think of a number of uninhabited islands. Adak is inhabited.

It's dang cold and clammy up there.

Maybe if we just put all these people up there and they KNEW that's where they'd go, the story would be different.

I also thought of Viequez.

Rand has been looking DOWN more recently as he speaks. This is a change. I agree. He’s on the take/being threatened-again.
