Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her chief of staff Saikat Chakrabarti obtained majority control of Justice Democrats PAC in December 2017, according to archived copies of the group’s website, and the two appear to retain their control of the group, according to corporate filings obtained by The Daily Caller News Foundation.
If the Federal Election Commission (FEC) finds that the New York Democrat’s campaign operated in affiliation with the PAC, which had raised more than $1.8 million before her June 2018 primary, it would open them up to “massive reporting violations, probably at least some illegal contribution violations exceeding the lawful limits,” former FEC commissioner Brad Smith said.
Ocasio-Cortez never disclosed to the FEC that she and Chakrabarti, who served as her campaign chair, controlled the PAC while it was simultaneously supporting her primary campaign, and former FEC commissioners say the arrangement could lead to multiple campaign finance violations. The group backed 12 Democrats during the 2018 midterms, but Ocasio-Cortez was the only winner.
“If the facts as alleged are true, and a candidate had control over a PAC that was working to get that candidate elected, then that candidate is potentially in very big trouble and may have engaged in multiple violations of federal campaign finance law.
And fellow former FEC commissioner Brad Smith told TheDCNF that if “a complaint were filed, I would think it would trigger a serious investigation.” He also noted that such a probe could potentially result in jail time for Ocasio-Cortez and her chief of staff, Chakrabarti.
Republican election attorney Charlie Spies told TheDCNF: “It looks like the campaign and PAC are under common control and the PAC was funding campaign staff and activities as an alter-ego of the campaign committee, which would be a blatant abuse of the PAC rules.”

Two possibilities here: 1) She is a democrat and nothing will happen to her. 2) She gets appropriate penalty to get rid of her and set up a precedence for trying oust Trump.
I actually think it will be the second, and she was a setup for this kind of fall from the day she was recruited to run for the democrats. You can bet that it will be used against Trump, even though all of the democrats in Congress turned a blind eye to Obama’s and all other democrats law violations.

Did people think Joe Crowley would just curl up and go away? He has people combing over every piece of paper this Cortez has touched in the past couple years. Cortez is dealing with the Democrat machine. They don’t have ethics and they know how to cheat and steal. They know where all the bodies are buried. Cortez at the very least will be primaried out in the next election. ... Crowley is working in the meantime to destroy her and her team. A special election is in the makings.
Why? Why do we want her in prison when she’s ripping the dem party apart and giving Rs ammunition every day for the 2020 election.
Hillary and Obama and Bill and a million others have seen not a day in prison.
They don’t help us so much during elections anymore. And they’ve done far worse.
Let try to hold attention spans to putting pressure on the Backlog of dems that need to go to prison.

If Pelosi wants her gone, no one will ever hear about it. A wink and a nod is all it will take to release the Kraken.

I understand the importance of keeping her around. But it would be great if someone did go to jail.
If a Republican were accused of this kind of egregious violation of the law, the screams from activists, journalists, and politicians would dominate the 24/7 news cycle for a week in a coordinated public relations effort to force the alleged offender to resign. GOP officials and leaders would express “great concern” to the press and behind the scenes be encouraging the Republican to resign.
In this case we’ll see a couple of stories in the mainstream press, Republican politicians will be silent, conservative internet forums will carry the story for a week and most voters will hear nothing about it. The Democrat political machine will block the FEC investigation. Even if it is investigated the most that will happen is a small fine and promise not to do it again.
As to the FEC its commissioners are appointed by the president. Two of its six seats are empty. The terms of the other four commissioners have expired and are being filled by the incumbents until new commissioners are appointed. Those terms expired between 2009 and 2011. It is a big miss by Trump and the GOP Senate not to fill those seats while the Republicans have a majority in the Senate.
Sounds like her whole point of running for Congress was a money making scheme. 11 of the 12 candidates financed through the PAC lost. She “accidentally” won.
Frankly, I think Pelosi wants her gone. She’s a loose cannon.....aka....whacko.
