The call sounds like it is coming from President Donald Trump's 2020 re-election campaign.
It even uses a recording of the President's voice: "I'm Donald Trump. Tonight I am asking you to defend our very dangerous southern border, out of love and devotion to our country." A deep-voiced narrator then comes on asking the listener to "be one of the hundreds thousands of patriots that helped President Trump finally build a the wall by making a one-time urgently needed donation to the campaign."
Calls like this one, said to number more than 200,000, have helped raise more than $100,000 in January alone, but that money isn't going to the Trump campaign, whose spokesperson told CNN they were not affiliated with the calls. Instead, the calls are coming from a political action committee that isn't affiliated with Trump's re-election effort and hasn't spent any money so far in this or last election cycle, according to records from the Federal Election Commission.
A CNN KFile investigation into the group behind the calls, Support American Leaders PAC, reveals it is run by 32-year-old Matthew Tunstall, who has a history of managing shadowy groups that target people with politically charged calls in order to raise money while doing very little -- if anything at all -- to put that money toward a political purpose. Tunstall made more than $300,000 through these groups in the 2016 presidential cycle, FEC records show.

No one is dumb enough to give over the phone...right?
The article is so miuch like the Lanny Davis I remember from the Clinton days...
Hehe, anyone here think President Trump is just going to look the other way?
Bwahaha, these guys are going to just disappear.
The raised 300k in 2016.
Here’s a nice “sowing fear” article. Don’t trust the call you get from the Trump campaign. It’s probably fake.
*cough*
Just a few months ago, a disabled veteran raised MILLIONS of dollars through a GoFundMe in support of The Wall.
I believe his fund raising ended with him being told that the Government could not accept those funds.
Not sure what happened to all that money.
Caveat Emptor.
I got a call like that one time. She said: “The last time we talked you agreed to give fifty dollars to the RNC, etc.”
I replied that can’t be possible because there is not enough Jack Daniels around to get me drunk enough to agree to give money to the RNC.
She hung up.
First, it’s CNN so it could be FAKE. Second, would they be the least bit bothered if this clown claimed to raise money for Obama or Hillary? If this kid can raise $200k and gives some for the wall, that’s a win. If he doesn’t, he’s successfully found a way to avoid unemployment.
People like that start out as truants going door to door and saying, “Your regular newspaper delivery boy is on vacation, and asked me to make his collections this week.”
Sounds like a clear case of FTC and/or SEC fraud.
Chicken feed. Jill Stein raised over $7 million with her promises for a recount that would swing the election to Hillary Clinton.
Why hasn’t this person been arrested? This is stealing by impersonating the President’s campaign. Were my mil alive, she would fall for this scam, unfortunately.
I think it was just the “Human Fund”.
Yes. Yes they are.
There are many people who need to be disappeared
It’s a real PAC

but not necessarily one with a transparent mission.
And too few people willing to make it happen.
No one is dumb enough to give over the phone...right?

I got a call recently from some alleged Firemen’s organization asking for a donation. I replied that I don’t know who you are. Can you send me a letter so I can look your organization up. He said no because they have had very little success with mailers. So I said no thank you. Firemen are wonderful, but I have no way of knowing if it’s legitimate.
