A Washington Post article first posted online on Jan. 19 reported on a Jan. 18 incident at the Lincoln Memorial. Subsequent reporting, a students statement and additional video allow for a more complete assessment of what occurred, either contradicting or failing to confirm accounts provided in that story including that Native American activist Nathan Phillips was prevented by one student from moving on, that his group had been taunted by the students in the lead-up to the encounter, and that the students were trying to instigate a conflict. The high school student facing Phillips issued a statement contradicting his account; the bishop in Covington, Ky., apologized for the statement condemning the students; and an investigation conducted for the Diocese of Covington and Covington Catholic High School found the students accounts consistent with videos. Subsequent Post coverage, including video, reported these developments: Viral standoff between a tribal elder and a high schooler is more complicated than it first seemed; Kentucky bishop apologizes to Covington Catholic students, says he expects their exoneration; Investigation finds no evidence of racist or offensive statements in Mall incident.
A Jan. 22 correction to the original story reads: Earlier versions of this story incorrectly said that Native American activist Nathan Phillips fought in the Vietnam War. Phillips said he served in the U.S. Marines but was never deployed to Vietnam.

Being threatened with a $250,000,000 libel suit apparently sobers the mind.
The 250 million dollar oops.
“We didn’t screw up. We didn’t slander the Covington Boys. But if we did, we’re sorry.”
“Please don’t sue us.”
~~ The Washington Compost.
Sorry...DAMAGES already done. $250 million worth of damages. Pay up!
Another glaring example of Fake News by the Democrats at the Washington Compost. Trying to piece together what actually happened from that gibberish is like trying to find night crawlers in a manure pile.
Somebody is going to make history if/when this thing reaches the courts and the WaPo doesn’t want their name on the case. Yes, there is such a thing as bad publicity.
Jussie Smollett might try using that line.
After publishing such a humiliating mea culpa the only sensible thing left to do is to spend the rest of the weekend in a drunken fog.
Isn’t that how much Bezos paid for it?
Laying the groundwork for a defense.
Man, was that lame.
The Amazon Post is afraid that a jury will award far more than just $250,000,000 in this case.
They must have been formally served papers today.
Gotta try that when I get into trouble.
“Officer, my breathalyzer result is more complicated than it seems...”
Sounds like someone knows that they are in deep doo doo.
What a bullshi* mea culpa. That is no apology at all.
“More complicated” Leftie speak for: “What we originally reported was FAKE NEWS.
This correction is behind a paywall.
Obama would want us to take a more ‘nuanced’ look at it.
