Maryland political leaders from both parties and civil rights groups made growing calls for the resignation of a Democratic state lawmaker on Wednesday, after she used a racial slur for African-Americans at an after-hours gathering.
The chairs of the Maryland Democratic Party and the Maryland Republican Party, as well as Gov. Larry Hogan and the Legislative Black Caucus of Maryland called on Del. Mary Ann Lisanti to resign, a day after she issued a public apology for making the comment last month in reference to Prince George's County, which is majority black.

Geez, seems many Democrats are getting in trouble for racial transgressions recently. But the Democrats are the party of tolerance, equality, allegedly the party of “civil rights” and “equal rights” for minority people. Go figure.

She should stand her ground. She used a word that is common, ordinary and is in normal usage in her community.
This is fake. News reports never identify Democrats using slurs in the lead sentence.

The 2 party system is falling over themselves to try and win political points with the blacks. Even though many of them have possible said the same thing. The 2 party system is swell.
She should just hang on for a week and the story will just go away, like it did for fellow Democrats in Virginia.
I read the article but somehow missed what it was she actually said. Her apology, however, was sickening, something one would expect from the old Soviet Union or a character from 1984.
Exactly. She’ll come out just fine after this ugly remark because she’s a protected species, that is, a Dem.
It’s a slur when a Dem ues the “N” word. All others lose everything.
maybe she should have used the term a relative of mine, a humble and devout old southern man, who would NEVER allow anyone to hurt another person, except in self defense or to defend another against danger, uses -— “darkie”. Definitely not PC, but certainly not meant to be disrespectful.

The few times I use “the N word” it refers to attitude and behavior among those “of color”.
Besides, we’d have to know if she said the -a version or the -er version. Because one gets you a hiphop contract and the other gets you the death penalty.
