A Maryland Democratic lawmaker apologized to the states Legislative Black Caucus Monday after calling a district in Prince Georges County a n***** district.
Del. Mary Ann Lisanti, who is white, was approached by the caucus regarding her alleged remarks Monday night, after news broke that Lisanti had said the racial slur at a cigar bar in Annapolis, Maryland, while speaking to a colleague, who was also white, after work late one night.
The Legislative Black Caucus of Maryland chair, Del. Darryl Barnes, said Lisanti apologized multiple times but also added he thinks anyone who uses the word is a reflection of whats in their heart, The Washington Post reported.
She apologized several times, Barnes, a Democrat, said. She recognizes how she has hurt so many within the caucus, and she hoped to repent from this. She said that she doesnt remember fully what happened, but she recognizes what happened.
I do think that someone who uses the word, its a reflection of whats in their heart, Barnes said.
Lisanti was reportedly questioned about the use of the racial slur in early February. She denied ever using the word but also said she did not remember much of that night. Lisanti also said she is sure she has used the racial slur before in her life.
I dont recall that. I dont recall much of that evening, Lisanti said to The Washington Post. She was also asked if she had ever used the racial slur before. Im sure I have. Im sure everyone has used it. Ive used the f-word. I used the Lords name in vain, she said.
Maryland Democratic House Speaker Michael E. Busch condemned the comments, saying Lisanti should face the consequences of her behavior and that there is no place in the House of Delegates for any racial slurs or slurs of any kind in society in general. Barnes said it is possible the Black Caucus gives other recommendations to House leadership about Lisantis position in the state House.
Typical.
However, every member of the black caucus uses that word routinely without repercussions.
It was the booze talking.
People - especially politicians - need to realize that cameras, recording devices and loose lips are everywhere in our brave new world so act accordingly, particularly when you have imbibed a few libations. If the adult beverages make you a bit chatty, it's best to avoid them or be prepared to deal with the consequences of what you say while under the influence.
I can say N****r, because I have a black soul.
I can say N****r, because I have a black soul.
I know someone who could be a sister.
Uncanny.
The person I know is an all around fine person and quality human being.
Thanks, I just busted out laughing.
This moron is my state delegate. I call for her immediate resignation.
She’s a drunk and a racist. (Hey, we need to use the rat playbook)
She resigned from her leadership positions and signed up for a sensitivity training. (That doesn’t fly with me)
What she said isn’t a slip, it’s truly where her heart lies.
This racist must go! Anything else proves they don’t care about racism other than a weapon against Conservatives. Which means for now on this weapon is a foam rubber hammer.
Her colleague she was with at the cigar bar would be my guess.
“When you are a public official, the walls have ears and eyes....................”
Then why don’t we have recorded conversations of Queen Hillary?
Yep - and the irony is it’s the Dems who use the word the most because of how they really feel about their useful tool slaves....zero respect and a lot of contempt.
Cause the “ears and eyes” ARE HERS!...................
Exactly so..................
Democrats rarely resign over things like this.
Mel Reynolds (D) from Chicago didn’t resign until he was convicted of statutory rape.....................
In vino veritas.....................
Not if she doesn’t use it except around whites.................
Papers and Broadcast stations cover their asses with that word. They don’t like lawsuits for libel...................
In today’s world, cameras and microphones are everywhere........................
