President Trump has put his conservative base in a terrible situation by allowing openly homosexual U.S. Ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell to lead a campaign to “decriminalize homosexuality” around the world. This gut-punch of a news story is being spun as a response to Iran’s recent execution of a homosexual man. While I believe I speak for most conservatives in saying I do not condone that execution, or capital punishment for any sexual crimes anywhere, I believe the Iran incident is simply a pretext for perpetuating the “All-In” Obama doctrine on LGBT issues by the U.S. State Department, and I think President Trump has been persuaded to cooperate on the false argument that doing so will mitigate leftist hatred of his administration here at home.
I have some bad news for President Trump: LGBTs and their surrogates in media, academia and government are IMPLACABLE. He will get no credit from the left, but will instead empower a small army of Trojan Horse “conservatives” among his base who are really progressive change-agents in disguise.

Somebody please explain to me, rationally, why sex between consenting adults should be a CRIMINAL offense?
Someone explain to me why we shouldn’t mind our own business on this. We seem to have little enough political capital to spend abroad, why spend it on this?

My understanding is that this is simply a campaign to get governments to stop executing people for being gay. Surely any Christian person can get behind that. If you want to think about it this way, consider this to be a way to keep people who would otherwise be refugees fleeing in fear for their lives in their own countries.
That is a fair question. But to me a better question is why it is the job of the United States government to convince other nations to think like we do on social issues like this. I don’t think our federal government should have anything to do with state laws relating to sexuality let alone the laws of some other nation.
There is also a huge push to make this man our ambassador to the UN. It is an iron law that whenever a government figure has universally good press, you should smell a rat. When somebody is loved equally by “conservatives” and progressives, it is time to question their conservative bone fides.
If it is just a campaign to convince other nations, then let it be a private effort.

Agreed. And maybe about putting pressure on the U.N. as a whole. I'm thinking Trump is trying to generate a wedge issue between leftist Americans (all of whom are vehemently for gay "rights") and the leftists' favorite body of imagined world sovereignty: the U.N. The U.N. has many member nations of the Death-to-America variety.
It is totally our business when people end up on our doorstep as refugees due to it being the law in their home country that they will be executed if they are caught.
So either they can stay in their home countries or they have an unassailable basis to move to ours. Are you happy with that?
It seems a fumble, who Trump chose, playing into the idea that to tolerate the closet (something the Old Testament effectively did, by requiring two or more witnesses to an unholy offense before any penalty was exacted) means to tolerate everything blatantly public too. If Trump chose a devout Christian to negotiate the matter, it would be 1000% better. Trump does not understand the kind of fire involved here. Our answer should be much prayer, not merely (or even chiefly) much criticism.

Actually, conservatives came late to the Trump train. Trump's base is MAGA, some of whom are conservative, some of whom are not.
When sodomy, adultery, fornication, unwed pregnancies etc... where stigmatized and in certain instances, declared illegal, society did not have rampant STDs, broken homes, Trillion dollar budget deficits, established slippery slopes where now men getting their penis chopped up and replace by a nu-vagina is being celebrated now, and degenerates (WHICH YOU SUPPORT INDIRECTLY BY THIS) are calling for the age of consent to be lowered in some cases at 8 years old.
You see, a lot of what two consenting adults do in “privacy of their homes” has a tendency to disrupt the social order and often lead to picking the pockets of the tax payer along with debt schemes that punish future generations.
It costs him nothing, that's why.
