Boston startup, wants deliver high-speed 5G internet in major cities at a reasonable price. Today, it announced it is expanding service from its initial launch in Boston to New York City. The company also announced a deal with Related Companies, a large national affordable housing owner, to host Starry equipment on its buildings and offer Starry service to its tenants.
The Starry solution consists of three parts: The beam sits on a high roof. The point sits on a lower roof and the consumer gets a Starry Station, which acts as a modem of sorts to deliver the internet service to the home. As they put it, internet access becomes an extension of the property.
While the hardware solution is impressive in itself, it allows Starry to offer high-speed internet to consumers at a more affordable price point than traditional large providers. Company founder and CEO Chet Kanojia says his company can provide up to 200 Megabits per second service, up and down, for just $50 a month with no data caps or long-term contracts. Installation is free and the company includes 24/7 customer care at no additional cost.

I’d think it would amount to very spotty access at best. Probably more of a pain in the ass than it’s worth.

Risks of 5G include:
-DNA single and double-strand breaks (which leads to cancer)
-Oxidative damage (which leads to tissue deterioration and premature ageing)
-Disruption of cell metabolism
-Increased blood-brain barrier permeability
-Melatonin reduction (leading to insomnia and increasing cancer risks)
-Disruption of brain glucose metabolism
-Generation of stress proteins (leading to myriad diseases)
5G antennaes (30-300GHz; 60GHz used in many tests) are about 4ft tall with 100m range, vice 4G (5GHz) w/120 element towers at 90 ft tall (50-200ft tall) w/ 2-35 km range depending on intensity of source.
Millimeter Wave (MMW) tend to be more easily absorbed by moisture and water. Since our bodies are 90% water, our bodies will tend to absorb more of this energy.
It is known that many medical issues may arise, but not well quantified or qualified at the same pace as the electronics industry to increase bandwidth for the Internet of Things.
Considering the lack of ethical behavior by “liberals” hiding behind the guise of “concerned citizens”, I have less faith in this technology being rolled out as rapidly as past generations of communications technology.
I want nothing to do with 5g.

As an Amateur Radio Operator for about fifty years, being familiar with the frequency spectrum, I know what you are driving at, unfortunately you may be right, but the ignorant public will lap it up anyway.
Quoting from the article, “The system requires high rooftops to function,” with the title saying they want to bring 5G to ‘everyone.’ Seems like Big City Chauvinism to me.... out here in the country. The nearest 5-story structure is 2 miles away. A grain elevator.

Whether you use it or not they are going to zap us with it anyways. I don’t think they should even go there, I don’t want anything to do with it either.

I don’t even want 4G. Within five years, I expect 5G will be mandated for everyone.

I understand radio too. I don’t even see a real need to even go there. They are already not pushing 4G to it’s true capacity as they advertised and throttling it back. They didn’t with 3G either. Health risks aside, they are doing just like they did with 4G, EVERYONE IN THE WORLD will have to purchase a new phone and equipment to tap into it.

Yep - most 4G service isn’t really 4G unless one is withing spitting distance of a tower....or in a good WiFi spot....I’m thinking that now we are all “hooked” on cell phones, etc., they will provide these marginal “huge improvements” way too early so they can raise prices across the board....

You live in the big city? Especially one with lots of trees and where it rains a decent amount. You will be cooked first by 5g. And how about the signal strength coming OUT of your new 5G phone? I think it will more easily go into your brain and impair thinking.

But know what? It might actually be a blessing in disguise with the 5G radiation situation. They are going to fry themselves. lol
