Time to Panic
The planet is getting warmer in catastrophic ways. And fear may be the only thing that saves us.

The age of climate panic is here. Last summer, a heat wave baked the entire Northern Hemisphere, killing dozens from Quebec to Japan. Some of the most destructive wildfires in California history turned more than a million acres to ash, along the way melting the tires and the sneakers of those trying to escape the flames. Pacific hurricanes forced three million people in China to flee and wiped away almost all of Hawaii’s East Island.
We are living today in a world that has warmed by just one degree Celsius (1.8 degrees Fahrenheit) since the late 1800s, when records began on a global scale. We are adding planet-warming carbon dioxide to the atmosphere at a rate faster than at any point in human history since the beginning of industrialization.
In October, the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change released what has become known as its “Doomsday” report — “a deafening, piercing smoke alarm going off in the kitchen,” as one United Nations official described it — detailing climate effects at 1.5 and two degrees Celsius of warming (2.7 and 3.6 degrees Fahrenheit). At the opening of a major United Nations conference two months later, David Attenborough, the mellifluous voice of the BBC’s “Planet Earth” and now an environmental conscience for the English-speaking world, put it even more bleakly: “If we don’t take action,” he said, “the collapse of our civilizations and the extinction of much of the natural world is on the horizon.”

So instead of the average temperature at the South Pole being −28.2° C in the Summer; it would climb to -27.2° C.
Yup; all that ice is REALLY gonna melt fast now!!
It is even WORSE at the NP!
The average annual temperature in North Pole is -3.4 °C; so it will be a balmy -2.4 °C; causing polar bears to run around wearing only a Speedo!
That would be the one east of the big island in the group - Hawaii.
Sure enough; I checked on GoogleEarth and he's right: it is GONE now!!!
If Midway Island were just a little bit further west, it would be on the other side of the International Date Line. It seems to be part of the same geological feature that created the Hawaiian Islands—so it could be Hawaii’s East Island if it were just further west...morally that is, not legally.
The author has panicked enough for all of us....we need not worry ourselves with it.
I read the other day that we have no reliable temperature data for the entire Southern Hemisphere before the 1970’s.
I often describe the cyclical nature of the ice ages, that not so very long ago the area of present day New York City was under a MILE of ice. And that eventually it will be again. I explain abiotic hydrocarbons are part of nature, that there are moons of Jupiter and Saturn with oceans of liquid methane and other hydrocarbons. Sometimes it helps.

Sierra Club was famously a big proponent of nuclear energy at one time. They were also very much against illegal “immigration” for the reasons you describe. Their major donors made it clear they would close their checkbooks if they didn’t drop that particular policy outlook. That’s why any rational person knows it’s all BS politics.

I wish you only healing and success with that.
I have walked behind a Gravely walking tractor in South Carolina when the temperature was over 100 but I was much younger then, I probably would not last five minutes at that now. As a teenager I walked behind a mule all day, day after day, in South Carolina in the Summer Sun. I wouldn’t try that now for a million dollars, I would probably drop dead before ten AM. There are few still living who have any concept of what everyday life used to be like on the farm.
