A former Chicago police officer convicted of second-degree murder in the killing of an African-American teenager he shot 16 times received a dose of prison justice just days after Illinois prosecutors moved to seek a harsher sentence for him, his wife said Thursday.

Jason Van Dyke was allegedly beaten by inmates at a federal prison in Danbury, Connecticut, where he was secretly moved to last week, his wife and his attorneys said during a news conference in Chicago.

I understand what you’re saying but Jeffery Daumer got his justice in jail.

No you DON’T understand what I am saying.

First thing Justice is a process, not a result.

Second, Dahlmer did not receive justice, he was murdered.

When a people lose their will to provide justice to criminals, and instead will not face the hard choices that the wheels of justice would, if morally and honestly turned, occur; well that society is doomed and there is no provision for justice for ANYONE.

The righteous sentence for Dahlme was execution by the state. Americans did not have the will or courage to execute and that is our shame as a country.

Pussying around and letting evil people torture and execute prisoners that we will not look in the eye and execute says more about the lack of moral fiber and will of people in this land, than just about anything else.

It says we are cowards.

So every time I hear how good it is that some prisoner is tortured (being beaten is a form of torture) and killed, I get sick at the continued descent of out once great country into chaos and cowardice.

There is no justice moving in our CJ system anymore.

Be very afraid.

In addition to the second degree murder they also convicted him of 16 counts of aggravated assault, one for each bullet. That tells you all you need to know. Do they charge ever gang banger with a separate charge for each bullet? I think not.

I just drove through Danbury earlier this week.I wonder if I was there as this was happening. From now on when driving through (I do so pretty often) I'll never again look at the sign on I-84 telling what exit to take the same way.

The administration must take steps to keep him safe...

If he did,in fact, kill somebody without good reason then maybe he deserves a bit of jailhouse justice.

“A dose of prison justice” So virtual lynchings are ok in prison so long as the victim is white and he is there for a crime against a black?

Sounds like a case here in Austin. Naked teenage black athlete running around in a neighborhood, in and out of backyards, over fences, grabbing moms coming out to pick up mail, take out trash, take the kids to school, etc... David Joseph age 17. So they called 911. The black officer who showed up, and there is video cam proof, was there in his patrol car... Joseph came running toward him, and the officer shot him. The officer was fired. And this was in Texas. Where we can shoot people on our property, they don’t have to be INSIDE the property. Castle Law. ... but if you are a police officer you are required to let the bad guy grab your gun and kill you, and possibly kill all the women and children on that street, too.

The people who lived there almost had to move out! Too many protesters, etc.

I agree with you, and find it depressing to behold how many contributors to this site think "prison justice," is a salutary thing. In fact, most of them don't stop there, but seem to think that wishing an eternity or two of hellish torment to a person's immortal soul is hardly condign punishment for whatever acts said person may have committed on earth.

I don’t think Daumer’s victims didn’t get justice either. This cop is a different story.I don’t think our “justice “ system truly meets out true justice sometimes. That doesn’t mean what happens in prison is just but when your couped up with someone who basically is an oxygen thief you gotta do what you gotta do. I wish everything was perfect but that’s why the prison authorities should keep certain criminals seperate.

Why would you even consider pardoning a man convicted of shooting someone 16 times?

It is not a stretch to say America as we knew it was destroyed by the War on Crime/Drugs and the Patriot Act - both products of conservative politicians and voters too dumb to realize that handing that much power to government for any reason could not have a good end.

We can blame the Left all we want, but the conservative desire to "let the government (or in this case, fellow inmates) take care of the bad guys for us" led us directly into the current situation with a Comey/McCabe FBI and a Deep State running the nation.

Fyodor Dostoyevsky said: “The degree of civilisation in a society is revealed by entering its prisons.”

I don’t cheer prison rape, and I don’t cheer when pedophiles get beaten in prison. If a crime is bad enough, then give the criminal the death penalty. Prison is supposed to suppress the worst instincts of criminals, not promote them.

if you are a police officer you are required to let the bad guy grab your gun and kill you, and possibly kill all the women and children on that street, too.

I spent a lot of years working with the police. And I can tell you that it can sometimes take six full size men to hold down a drugged up 110 pound girl, and almost all of them will be bitten or scratched. Anyone who thinks that a normal sized athletic naked black guy running toward you cannot knock you down and take your weapon does not know what they are talking about. It is also not generally possible to tell if that person running toward you does not have something hidden in their hands that can cause additional harm or death.

That said, the tribal police especially were often a bit on the keystone side. I remember showing up to a Casino motel and a bunch of officers were attempting to do “cop CPR” on a big fat dead native American guy. He had been drunk and started fighting with the tribal police who were trying to arrest his friend. They handcuffed him and threw him on the floor face down. He apparently was thrashing around for a couple minutes and then quieted down while the police milled about. Then one of them realized that he was being a little too quiet.

They started doing completely ineffective “cop CPR” which doesn't include respiration or taking the handcuffs off. It is more of a statement that says, “Somebody is going to get in trouble over this and I want to look like I was trying to do something when the firefighters show up so that it won't be me.” But since they were officers from a “sovereign nation” none of them got in trouble on that occasion.

This is BS and it’s certainly not justice as the lying media suggested. This is like what happens in Turkish or Mexican prisons where no one gives two sh*t holes.

And they put him in the general population? WTF? Even if the former cop requested it, it should have never happened.
