Rats, Public Defecation: Our Major Western Cities Are Becoming Uninhabitable Hellholes(Trunc)
End Of The American Dream ^ | February 12, 2019 | Michael Snyder

Posted on 02/13/2019 4:22:46 PM PST by RedMonqey

Almost everyone that goes out to visit one of our major cities on the west coast has a similar reaction. Those that must live among the escalating decay are often numb to it, but most of those that are just in town for a visit are absolutely shocked by all of the trash, human defecation, crime and public drug use that they encounter. Once upon a time, our beautiful western cities were the envy of the rest of the world, but now they serve as shining examples of America’s accelerating decline. The worst parts of our major western cities literally look like post-apocalyptic wastelands, and the hordes of zombified homeless people that live in those areas are too drugged-out to care. The ironic thing is that these cities are not poor. In fact, San Francisco and Seattle are among the wealthiest cities in the entire nation. So if things are falling apart this dramatically now, how bad will things get when economic conditions really start to deteriorate?

Gee, and I always thought it would be something nuclear. Now it’s going to be the black plague and hepatitis C. Probably even have a longer half-life.

As I said on the post earlier today, notwithstanding that the writer is focused on western cities, at the end of the article he seems to be rolling all cities into one big ball of wax. On that front, I'm afraid the writer doesn't get out much.

To be sure, reports out of SanFran aren't good. I've never been to Denver, but, OK...maybe legalization hasn't been good for that city.

But many of the larger cities which I've visited recently, including Manhattan, Chicago, and Anaheim, don't look like war zones. Every city has it's bad area, and to be sure DeBlasio has overseen a general decline in NYC vs prior years. But NYC remains WAY better than it did in the 1970s/1980s.

I worked in Manhattan for a long time found it NOT to be the hellhole many outside of NYC consider it to be. To be sure, you have lots of radicals and statists and similar types who make MSNBC seems like Deplorables. And for every improvement you see on 42nd Street, Bryant Park, and even Hell's Kitchen, there remain nasty areas that NOBODY would want to frequent.

That said, I've found Deplorables in NYC to be very strong, good people. The Churches are fantastic (and very traditional if you know where to look), the food is great, businesses are innovative, the music scene is pretty strong, and the scenery can be breathtaking.

City living may not be a Deplorables' cup of tea, but to paint with a broad brush (thank you, mouske!) like this guy does toward the end of the article hurts his claim and his cause.

Perhaps this might one of the reasons

What’s not being looked at is how Chicago wards have been redistricted. Chicago has had neighborhoods divided to create “Hispanic”residential sections going to Hispanic aldermanic and congressional (Gutierez) candidates and blacks going to black candidates.Which apparantly is the result of the turnover in the Freddie and Fanny mortgage colapse.

Burke’s ward ,14th, was originally known as “Back of The Yards” Once the home of the famous Chicago Stock Yards where most food processors along with employee demographics have since relocated. It was a compact area almost 15 plus city blocks square area composed mostly of single and 2 story frame and brick family dwellings mixed with scattered brick apartment units. Because of the construction, insurance rates varied and became known as the condemed as “redlining”. When the democrats also warily supported by the Bush 2 administration came up with the no 20% down mortgage removed. Areas in the ward dramatically changed in demographics. Many of those dwellings sold under those conditions went into disrepair or default.

Originally his ward headquarters and palace was on 51st street just west of Damen Avenue. Today’s palace is just off of Pulaski Road near the Madam Curie high school just off of Archer Avenue miles away.

His ward now consists of areas carved from the 12th and 23rd wards miles from the original 14th That has had the effect of breaking up a contiguous geographic continuity and community identity. Because the wards affected which are really like small towns have had sections broken up into areas where if a problem arises in a given section of street which has one way traffic only. It may be two way a block down because it’s in a different ward. In a former section of the 23rd ward now the 14th ward in the Midway airport area, 2 patrons in a local bar along Archer avenue were heard complaining about rats in their garbage. They felt it was because of the delay in garbage collection. Also heard the same beef about street snow removal. It has also played hell on zoning and because of the disruption of jurisdictions with the administration of city services such as streets and sanitation which the alderman (salary $120.000 plus allocations on local projects) do oversee and have input over..

Still not bad enough to discourage invasion by illegals.

One hears about this stuff every day month after month. You almost get inured to it.

But CRIPES FREAKING SAKE!!!

Crapping on the sidewalks? And there is discussion beyond it stops now?

This is really f-ed up.

Sometimes it’s hard to not believe I’m not strapped to a bed in a psychiatric ward living some bizarro delusion in my head.

It is past time to clean up the cities. Lots of refuse and human waste. Put them to work.

The typical American DNC run city have ghettos that look post-apocalypse. Just think, these ghettos are the illegals dream compared to their sh*tholes that they came from.

NYC was really a dangerous hellhole in the early and mid 70s when I had to go through there to get to college. To this day I have no desire to go there.

Yes, you’re right about NYC. If you look at some of the John Cassevettes films of the 60s shot in NYC (like Husbands) you really see a decline. Even in the 70s it didn’t look as bad as that! I never understand what people are talking about when they discuss NYC as a “hellhole.” And Chicago - the same thing. What people are thinking of is the inner city, the ghetto. Or, they are thinking of Times Square in summer after tourists have completely trashed the place.

Gee, and I always thought it would be something nuclear.

The rot will probably set in long before third world nuclear powers get froggy enough to take on a weaken, degenerate US. By then, it will provide a "cleansing" of the urban areas.

Smaller cities have problems of course but nothing like this. Small cities, towns, and villages out here in Trump country would not stand for it.
