The United States could suspend all legal immigration to the country for the next 40 years and maintain a workforce where there are still more than two U.S. workers for every one retiree, a new study finds. The latest study by the Center for Immigration Studies Steven Camarota reveals that despite claims by the big business lobby, Wall St., and corporate executives that mass legal immigration is necessary to maintain a sizeable workforce, current legal immigration trends have little to no impact on the working-age population.
The workforce population is generally measured by the ratio showing the number of U.S. workers per every one retiree. Camerotas research finds that if the U.S. implemented an immigration moratorium for the next 40 years, it would hardly have an impact on the number of workers per retirees.
For example, at current legal immigration levels where the U.S. imports more than 1.2 million legal immigrants a year at the detriment of American workers job prospects and wages the working-age population would decrease from 64.3 percent of the total population in 2017 to 59 percent in 2060.
Likewise, under a scenario where the U.S. halted all legal immigration, the working-age population would dip to about 56.7 percent of the total population by 2060 only a 2.3 percent difference from projections where current mass legal immigration trends continue.

The H1B program began as a way that America could legally get a specialist like Werner Von Braun, the rocket scientist. Now this has dumbed down to “generic IT worker.”
Go back to the original intent and we will be just fine.
Yes... take some pressure off wages and give us some elbow room in this country and you may find some of our citizens opting to raise more children. Right now it is just too hard and expensive to raise a big family.
And yet this mass invasion is flooding the labor market and keeping everyone's wages down.
Whatever.
Depends on what talents we are talking about.
Many immigrants succeed because they are the risk takers, the boldest and bravest.
Boldness is the most valuable feeder of success.
They are what drives hiring and innovation and creativity.
All countries that lose those people become poorer and we become richer.
Of course there are the bad ones, criminals. But eventually they get tagged and deported or jailed. It’s a rough process of sorting them out.
Barriers and screening and enforcement are the key to making sure we only take the boldest and brightest.

Drop welfare for those who don’t want to work and I think we’ll find there is a very substantial supply of workers.
Review all disability claims every three years and I think we’ll find there is a very substantial supply of workers.

You had the PROPER ‘solution’ @ the 1st pair of words.
Govt has ZERO capability vs. ‘charity’, esp. since not ONE red-penny it ‘gives’ is of its own making
>
The more important number in those charts is the ratio of workers to retirees.

It’s only ‘important’ vs. the illegal, unconstitutional Socialist+ Ponzi schemes known as SS/MediXY, etc.
*Amazing* the solution(s) to problem(s) that exist when the Constitution is upheld, defended, enforced and followed

End H1B tax evasion.
If demographics are destiny, we can thank scotus for finding the right (Griswold, Roe, Obergefell) to terminate the next generation.
Yet, even with all them “workers” and aliens to boot, there are a lot of unfilled jobs....numbers mean nothing when a lot of those numbers are uneducated, unskilled, unwilling to work....focus is good...single-minded rabidness is “progressive”.
