A federal judge ruled on Friday the US government can include citizenship question on the US Census. It makes complete sense so Democrats are against it.
It also affects how much federal funding the sanctuary communities will receive from American taxpayers. So, of course, Democrats are against this.
Outline reported:
A federal judge ruled late Friday she is unconvinced of an immediate need to block a citizenship question from the 2020 census over privacy concerns.
US District Judge Dabney Friedrich declined to issue a preliminary injunction requested by a privacy and civil liberties nonprofit group, the Electronic Privacy Information Center.
The group argued that the US Census Bureau was required to complete a privacy impact assessment before Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross announced the addition of the question.
In response, the government acknowledged it is required to update its privacy impact assessments, but must do so before collecting census responses, rather than before deciding what questions would appear.

Why is this in the courts? A plaintiff? Since when do illegal aliens have standing?
Absolute anarchy.
Great news!
it was posted last week she walks a mile a day. She started 7 days ago, so now she’s 7 miles from home and no one can find her. (acknowledging Rodney Dangerfield)
Apportionment is based on the headcount, not if those counted are citizens, permanent residents, or illegals. The left fears the citizenship question because they believe illegals will choose not to be counted rather than answering truthfully.
[This entire illegals thing is ONLY and ALL ABOUT POWER.]
It’s more than that. Federal dollars are based on population as well as the number of congressional seats that are given to a state.
Several blue states have lost 1000s and are propping up their numbers with illegals.
But it falls on its face.
First, it only asks if you are a citizen.l It does NOT ask whether you are a legal alien or ILLEGAL alien. It's a yes or no.
The Dems are claiming ALL aliens will not participate in the census and of course that would skew the number of reps.
I doubt illegals have participated in the census of the past. One will only know the result AFTER the census.
The question will be on the next census. It never should have been taken off.
This news came out last night. Unfortunately it is just a small step in getting around the obstructions.
We don’t know if or when the USSC will take a peak at this.
they should decline and let this ruling stand. Ridiculous challenge.
There’s a reason why the democrats don’t want this. They don’t want you to know how much they have allowed people to come into the country and live off your money.
Roberts to the rescue!
That, IMHO, is the only question that needs asking...
Sufficient to reduce the number of RATS in the House..
Of course it’s not the last word. It’s not even the last word from this judge. It’s the denial of a preliminary injunction. It only means the court won’t “freeze” the situation right this minute pending the final decision
There are constantly posts on FR framed as “Declarations of Victory” in court proceedings where it’s just the first inning of the ballgame. This is one of them.
There was a time not long ago when every detail of our lives wasn’t decided by “federal judges.” This is our ruination.
When I was young, I think I was blissfully unaware we even had federal judges. They toiled in obscurity as it should be.
Nice to see a federal judge upholding the Constitution, instead of subverting it. Needs to happen more often.
Thank You Jesus!
Appointed by President Trump, and she dated Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
I’m going over to Twitter to watch the splodey heads...

And this is why it is important to get constitutional conservative judges appointed even at the District Court level.
BOTH the Senate and President Trump need to get cracking to QUICKLY fill the MANY VACANCIES on US federal judgeships. There are 149 vacancies for which there are only 60 having nominees pending. That leaves 89 VACANT federal judgeships for which Trump has not yet submitted nominees.

And there are 21 other judgeships where near-future vacancies are known. These also need nominations in the pipeline.

Will Ruthie be opining on the matter?
