Tamika Capone thought she was making a smart call by traveling to Mexico for bariatric surgery. Her doctor had urged her to have the procedure to reduce her out-of-control weight and blood pressure. But her husbands health insurance would not cover the $17,500 bill. After a friend got the surgery in Tijuana for $4,000, Capone decided to do the same.
Nearly four months later, the Arkansas woman is one of at least a dozen U.S. residents who returned from surgeries in Tijuana with a rare and potentially deadly strain of bacteria resistant to virtually all antibiotics, say federal health officials. Some in the group recovered, but Capone, 40, remains seriously ill despite being treated with a barrage of drugs.

So sad. Best is to shop around for your surgeries in different American states. Ive found NV is much cheaper than Beverly Hills with great doctors etc.

Not good. I suspect a surgery patient could get something nasty at any hospital. Once doctors open up a body it’s a cramp shoot.

“The natural compounds could be used to combat hard-to-treat infections, the team at Rockefeller University hopes.
Tests show the compounds, called malacidins, annihilate several bacterial diseases that have become resistant to most existing antibiotics, including the superbug MRSA.”
I’ve read that Mexico does have some excellent hospitals and doctors, but they are for the light skinned upper class, and I don’t think they are to be found in Tijuana.
Schwarzenegger had one of his heart surgeries in Mexico.

On the bright side, her husband’s insurance probably covers that.
My brother went to Mexico years ago for routine hernia surgery. I have friends who have gone for Lasix surgery. These are all viable alternatives to spending thousands more in the USA. And you can get a superbug anywhere. Even in the US.
My mother got an infection after a hip replacement that nearly killed her. Here in the states.
The poor woman. That’s horrible.
In Tijuana? Perhaps she forgot her beeber like device that could have stuned these superbugs.
Pinging al baby. Why? I dont remember.
She should try MMS.
“I would travel, with all attendant dangers, to the U.S. even to have an appendectomy.”

A gut on another forum was saying how he’d go to Mexico for cheaper dentist work. I said I’d sooner go to Haiti and have a witch-doctor for healthcare. Might as well go to the worst hellhole armpit country, I say!

So, our Moms were wrong about not eating dirt! Huh.
Rule of thumb:
If you wouldnt drink the water in a country why would you go there for medical services?
Of course....... the fanatic refusal to drink anything but absolutely pure water means that antibodies don’t develop and they loose immunity.
The good news is that if the Democrats have their way in revamping our Health Care System, people will not have to travel to Mexico to catch one of these superbugs, you can get one at your nearby local hospital without every using your passport.
yes- but we ll ate lead paint so we didn’t listen thankfully
