~The FReeper Canteen Presents~ Road Trip: Camp Bullis, Texas Camp Bullis Military Training Reservation is a U.S. Army training camp comprising 27,990 acres in Bexar County, Texas, USA, just northwest of San Antonio. Camp Bullis provides Base Operations Support and Training Support to Joint Base San Antonio. The camp is named for Brigadier General John L. Bullis.
Camp Bullis and Camp Stanley make up the Leon Springs Military Reservation. Camp Bullis is used primarily as maneuvering grounds for U.S. Army, Air Force and Marines combat units. It is also utilized as a field training site for the various medical units stationed at Brooke Army Medical Center in nearby Fort Sam Houston. JBSA services more DOD students than any other installation, more active runways than any other installation, houses the DOD's largest hospital and only level one trauma center, supports more than 250,000 personnel, including 425 retired general officers, and interfaces with 1,000 civic leaders of San Antonio, 20 smaller communities, four counties and four Congressional Districts. Its total plant replacement value is about 10.3 billion with an annual budget of $800 million. Despite its uniqueness in setup, the 80,000 members who belong to JBSA are making a difference, not only in San Antonio, but for the nation...accomplishing diverse training, flying, medical, cyber, intelligence and installation missions every day. The Soldier Medic Training Site (SMTS) is located at Camp Bullis, Texas. It is designed to simulate conditions that new soldier medics are likely to face while deployed to current areas of conflict.
The staff is composed primarily of non-commissioned officers that have been medics for at least five years and soldiers that have been deployed to combat. Learn More About Camp Bullis HERE! FR CANTEEN MISSION STATEMENT~Showing support and boosting the morale of our military and our allies military and the family members of the above. Honoring those who have served before.
Please remember: The Canteen is a place to honor and entertain our troops. The Canteen is family friendly. Let's have fun! We pray for your continued strength, to be strong in the face of adversity. We pray for your safety, that you will return to your families and friends soon. We pray that your hope, courage, and dignity remain unbroken, so that you may show others the way. Actually there were some people out there yesterday and yes Giz did some running. I had to put the leash on him because there were people out there but we had a great time.

It’s about 5 hours away from us along I-10. I know we’ve been on that route, but for the life of me, I don’t remember seeing that base or even signs for it. Probably too busy doing other stuff. LOL!

Yes, I am very relieved that these wounds didn’t get infected. With two so close to his eye and the other one on his ear, It could have gotten nasty.
Great that you’ve gotten so much done! I’ll bet you’ve found some interesting stuff, huh. LOL! It will be nice to have it all done.
Guess I’d better head out. I’m getting sleepy now and my eyes are burning. Don’t have that headache anymore though, thank goodness. See ya tomorrow night, maybe, for the quiz!

Yep, he would have been a mighty unhappy lil feller if any of them had gotten infected.
Haven’t found much in the way of interesting things at the house. If not for Clara having hauled a lot of junk over there in the past, it would all be dealt with by now.
Not fun marrying onto a family of hoarders.
I imagine you WERE sleepy. You were up mighty late tonight. :-)
Catch ya tomorrow at some point for the quiz.

Indeed! Getting that horrid tube removed was a big step in the right direction.
I’m not so sure being able to talk right now is such a good thing. The first thing I thought of when I read this was America’s Funniest Videos. A lot of people send videos of folks who are still loopy after having oral surgery. Amazing and hilarious the things that come out of their mouths. LOL!! He’s already zinged with the Caribbean lady. :-)
Prayers haven’t stopped and won’t until we know he’s home again.

Whew, it turned out to be a bigger chore than I imagined it would be. Clara hauled a LOT of stuff over there while she was still mobile to add to what was already there. She even took a few things from HERE. Hubby spotted a blender that I’d pulled out of one of the cabinets and said, “So THAT’s what happened to Mom’s blender!”
I’ve brought a few things over here that we can use but not much. There’s already plenty in this house to last us for years. this place is insane with all the generations of hoarders. Clara wasn’t the only one. LOL

Not dry at all...lots of puddles and mud, and of course, road salt, which requires careful paw-washing after every walk. (sigh)

Was it a fun competition?
Yes, it was. The actual competition was a heck of a lot of fun. It was an excellent teamwork exercise, and an excuse for some serious hiking. I can still remember the briefing given to the teams before we headed out there - we were shown photos of all the things to avoid/not touch out on the ordnance range ("If it looks dangerous, it probably is; so don't touch it.").
