Photos of Northam at medical school show him standing with a man in the same plaid pants as the KKK-blackface photo.
Here is a Northam friend in the plaid pants in a regular college shot — And then in the blackface shot.
The pants were featured in another Northam college shot.
Ralph Northam is on the left.
But the man on the right is wearing the same plaid pants as the blackfaced fellow in the yearbook.
"Keith Matthews is the plaid pants. Northam is taller than him. He can't be the KKK guy. Whatever. I just roll with it. Drama for them is fine by me."

It sure looks like Northam is not in the blackface-KKK photo... blackface appears to be a friend of his, Keith Matthews... and Northam is too tall to be the dude in the Klan outfit.

Sure. Because those were one of a kind plaid pants. If anyone else on earth wore them, ever, it can’t be Northam the racist in that photo.
I wondering if it was a theme party— guys in blackface and dates as KKK. Northampton may not be in this particular picture, but perhaps he was in blackface and that’s why he’s explanation evolved to say he is not in THIS picture.

Did you see Northam’s favorite quote about wanting more beer? This guy must be as big an alcoholic menace to society as Kavanaugh is.

Keith Matthews has very narrow, steeply sloping shoulders in the picture, The “blackface guy” does not. May be the same pants; but, not the same guy IMHO.
And about the coonman comment: I went to a similar military college. We ALL had nicknames. Some came from high school, but most originated during your first year. I could give you the origin of every nickname of the guys in my class. It’s not better than any other college experience, it’s just different.
To suggest that he has no idea why a couple of upperclassmen would start calling him that is absurd. Ask any of his classmates— they could tell you, but their loyalty to a classmate would prevent it.

The hairstyle of Matthews matches the guy in blackface.
Looks like a muttonchop gone wild (looking on the left side of his face).
Northam’s hair is short and wouldn’t be sticking out of the hat.
