Demanding tax returns was invented by democrats when they were trying to reshape their image from the racists they have always been to one of supporting working people. their idea was to say that republicans all lived in country clubs and stole from those who did their labor.

The only thing that has ever been learned from the release of tax returns is that Hillary Clinton charged the American people for her husband's used underwear.

What kind of suprises me is that folks still talk about term limits for congress. It was tried and it was rejected. If anybody wants to continue to pursue it they will have to amend the constitution. I’m not saying it can’t be done, but it’s going to take an amendment.

Better to support my plan which is NO post office benefits for congressional reps and senators. No pensions, no health insurance, no of whatever else any of them get. Secret Service protection for ex-Potuses and immediate family for some length of time, that’s it. They can have a 401K, it could even be matched to the same extent as anyone elses can be, and that is it. A plan like this would have almost complete bi-partisan appeal.

I think this would, to a large extent, act as a de facto term limiter and would be easier to bring about. However, somebody needs to make it a mission, if someone effective does that the rest of the bums can be shamed into supporting it.

We’ve long been past the stage. POTUS has the power. A free future depends on whether or not he decides to use it, and soon.

Why not include Senators and Congress, men/women/others?

Lincoln was not on the ballot in the Southern states, that seceded from the USA not long after the election.

In that case, all NJ legislators should be required to release their tax returns as well.

that’s interesting Three times during the campaign Trump promised to release his returns after the audit. That was over 2 years ago. You think the audit is over, yet? Trump started this by his comments.

I’m OK with this blatantly unconstitutional act. In return NJ is removed from the United States. Their 2 Senate seats are gone as well as reps in the House.

Some members of the state Legislature have revived legislation that would require candidates for president and vice president to disclose their tax returns from the previous five years to appear on the ballot in the Garden State. The bill would also ban New Jersey’s voters in the electoral college from voting for a candidate that did not do so.
Apropos of nothing, there's some big landfills in Jersey... room to lose a lot of things that will never be found...

A Republican can win NJ they run a good campaign.

Bush in 2004 was probably the last person to potentially win NJ. He campaigned in NJ because of the post-9/11 effect.

Unconstitutional as hell.

Irrelevant. The idea is to preclude the Republican candidate from appearing on the ballot. Little comfort will come from a SCOTUS ruling overturning the law after the suit finishes wending its way through the courts five years from now.

And this matters how? I don’t think Noo Joisey is a “must win” for Trump. He didn’t win NJ last time. It doesn’t even follow the Constitution, anyway. Cut it loose, along with Noo Yawk.

Fine. Exclude New Jersey from participation in the Electoral College for the Presidential election.

Who was the last candidate to refuse to release his returns?

Who was the last candidate to seal up all records pertaining to his education, birth, and travel outside the US?
