The Federal Bureau of Investigation has taken over the lead investigative role into the ongoing incident happening at the Green Terrace Apartments in west Lawton.

The FBI released the following statement on Thursday morning about the incident:

The FBI is responding alongside federal, state, and local partners to a residence in Lawton, Oklahoma that may contain hazardous material.

Following the execution of a narcotics arrest warrant, conducted by Lawton Police Department, materials were found inside the residence with an indication of hazardous properties.

The subject of the arrest warrant is currently in custody.

Assisting agencies include the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Oklahoma National Guard, Lawton Police Department, Lawton Fire Department, Oklahoma Highway Patrol, and the Comanche County Office of Emergency Management.

Law enforcement has established a safe perimeter at the location and asks that all individuals stay away from the area.

As this is an ongoing matter, no further information or specific details will be released at this time.

FYI. Lawton, Oklahoma is home to Ft. Sill, one of the largest Army posts in the country. It is the home of the School of Atrillery.

My first 10 years of life were spent there. I won’t mention cracks in the drywall from all the artillery practice. Ah, the memories

Yep - found it curious that the OK National Guard was involved in the investigation, but not Army CID (which should be part of the investigation if it involved Army personnel or contractors).

OK I’ll speculate. A large amount of carfentanyl? A setup to make sodium chlorate with a fishtank and computer power supply? A home DNA lab?

The presence of the bomb squad would suggest that the cops suspect a bunch of energetic material.

I was stationed there a couple different times. I went to BCT there and came back in the mid 90’s as Cadre. I liked Lawton. Good folks there.

Some poor bastard was probably just a handloader. FBI horned in and took over the case once the locals had secured and made the scene safe.

Some National Guard gun bunny took some charge bags home after Annual Training. - Just a guess.

As a kid it was a nice place. Didn’t realize how small town it was until I moved to Texas. Dad was an LEO there. It’s come a long way from the place I remember.

Those things gave me nightmares. I always knew that somehow they would miss the targets and my house would get hit.

$10 says its castor beans.

You could be right. My first thought was a bottle of bleach and a bottle of ammonia under the sink, or a bag of fertilizer and a can of gasoline by the lawn mower. From the activity, it might even be tannerite. Or stolen airbags.

Or it could be a clockmaker named Mohammed.

It’s not that far from OKC and Norman, OK where some of the 9/11 terrorists were. Also, that wacko who wanted to blow up the football stadium. And the OKC bombing.
