Northam Defends Leaving Infants to Die After Birth

Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam (D) made some startling remarks defending allowing an infant born alive to die on WTOP Wednesday when asked about the debate over Virginia House of Delegates member Kathy Tran’s (D-Fairfax) bill that would allow an abortion even after the woman goes into labor.

When asked if he supported the bill, Gov. Northam argued that decisions by physicians can be made to allow an infant to die even after birth.

“If a mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen,” he said. “The infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother.”

I am not an anti-abortion activist and utterly oppose outlawing all abortions, such as with forcible (not statutory) rape or with non-viable fetuses that would only be born into brief agony and death if at all. But this ...? What the hell is this? Once an infant has reached the 24-week viability milestone, then only the most serious physical threat to the mother's life should be allowed as an excuse for killing. And let's not have any of that bullpuckey about psychological health — feeling sad about losing a beach body or not being able to party hearty doesn't remotely cut the mustard in a sane society.

These pro-abortion — not pro-choice but pro-abortion — people are talking like plain and simple sociopaths. Notice the distancing language? "It puts the infant on the table and it decides whether to let it live or to terminate it with a scalpel." Just like that whack job from Silence of the Lambs. These people are the same frightening, stone-cold killers who had only adulation for Kermit Gosnell. Just ugh.

Deliver baby. Baby cries. Nobody does anything. Baby placed on a table. None of the usual things are done for the newborn. Doctor asks mother “do you want the baby or not?”

Mother says “no” - baby is left to die, then is put in a plastic bag to be sold for parts. Baby is legally biowaste.

Mother says “yes” - baby is given newborn care, mother is happy, family announces sex of baby, baby given name, proud parents show off baby. Baby is legally a person.

Just one question. If a puppy is born and the owner removes it from its mother and it dies, is the owner arrested for animal cruelty?

Is the American public stupid or uncaring? How many years does this country have? Would it be better to be overrun by Muslims who seem to be the only ones left who can express any moral outrage?

Two points about that graphic:

1. How about we exercise the restraint necessary to prevent the unwanted conception that leads to the killing of unwanted human beings? And, yes, it IS KILLING!

And the ladies are going to come after me for this, but the fact is that, except in cases of forced rape, THEY ARE IN CONTROL OF EVENTS! Years ago, a wag offered that unwanted pregnancies could be prevented by ASPIRIN! How? Put the pill between your knees and be certain it stays there! Of course the Hollywood trash merchants have spread the message that leg spreading is no big deal in HBO TV garbage such as “Sex in The City” in which bed-hopping bimbos try to outdo one another.

2. That said, the current birth rate among native born Americans is at a level far below that historically necessary to preserve the traditional culture of a nation. Looking at that from the perspective of the One World Globalist Left, their CONSCIOUS importation of alien cultures here is the most certain way to DESTROY the traditional INDIVIDUAL LIBERTY based IDEA of AMERICA embodied in the Declaration and Constitution. That they seek to destroy it bespeaks a level of hatred of that IDEA engendered by their realization that it MUST be destroyed before THEIR socialist "Utopia" (a euphemism for "communism") can be implemented here.

That that has ALWAYS failed and killed hundreds of millions is of no concern to them so long as THEY ascend to and remain atop the piles of corpses.

Little corpses, big corpses...they're all the same to these people so long as they get a shot at yet another doomed to fail experiment in their communist "Utopia".

Northam released a statement:

“No woman seeks a third trimester abortion except in the case of tragic or difficult circumstances, such as a nonviable pregnancy or in the event of severe fetal abnormalities, and the governor’s comments were limited to the actions physicians would take in the event that a woman in those circumstances went into labor,” Ofirah Yheskel, a spokeswoman for Northam, said. “Attempts to extrapolate these comments otherwise is in bad faith and underscores exactly why the governor believes physicians and women, not legislators, should make these difficult and deeply personal medical decisions,”

Northam and the VA legislature sponsoring the bill need to get their talking points straight. The bill’s author under questioning plainly stated if the woman would suffer mentally if the child was delivered an abortion is allowed up until birth.

I’ve never understood the often repeated phrase “or to save the life of the mother”. If the infant is viable and the mother’s life needs saving (it does happen as in eclampsia), delivering the baby will save the mother. You don’t have to KILL the baby to save the mother.
