Sen. Sherrod Brown said he backs a proposal from Sen. Kamala Harris to abolish private health insurance.
I like Kamala, Brown told MSNBC when asked if he would consider appearing on a ticket alongside Harris in the 2020 elections. I was amazed at somebody called her un-American today for a proposal she had on health insurance I stand with her on that, we have stood together on a number of issues, and I think very highly of her.
Brown, D-Ohio, on Wednesday will launch a tour aimed at promoting a possible White House run in 2020, and has said it should become clear whether he runs in the next few weeks.
Harris, D-Calif., announced last week on Martin Luther King Jr. Day that she was entering the race for the White House in 2020, and kicked off her campaign with a rally in Oakland on Sunday.
A day later, Harris told CNN, we need to have Medicare for all, and endorsed the elimination of private health insurance.
"The idea is that everyone gets access to medical care and you don't have to go through the process of going through an insurance company, having them give you approval, going through all the paperwork, all of the delay that may require," Harris said during a CNN town hall Monday night. "Who of all us have not had that situation where you have to wait for approval and the doctor says, 'I don't know if your insurance company is going to cover this.'"
Lets eliminate all of that. Lets move on," she said.
After receiving backlash for proposing a complete elimination of the current healthcare system, Harris walked back a bit on her comments.
Harris national press secretary Ian Sams said less than 24 hours after the initial comments that the senator is willing to back healthcare proposals that would not eliminate private health insurance.
Medicare for all is the plan that she believes will solve the problem and get all Americans covered. Period, Sams told CNN. She has co-sponsored other pieces of legislation that she sees as a path to getting us there, but this is the plan she is running on.
Its ultimately their goal.

Yes.
“Medicare for all” is not the actual goal. If it was, it would be optional. You could opt out, not pay, and not receive.
But they can’t run it that way, and they know it. They can’t even make it solvent if they force everyone to do it.
So the ultimate goal is to abolish private coverage.
It’s never about choice with these people. (except for choosing to terminate a newly created human life). It’s always about destroying liberty. Stick everyone in the same miserable hell of totalitarian collectivism because at least it’s ‘fair’ that way.
> So, what do you think your wait time is going to be to see a doctor. Two, Three years? <
That wait time could be infinite. Rahm’s brother Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel was one of the driving forces behind Obamacare. He proposed a drop-dead age of 75. Once you hit that age, no more medical care for you. (But don’t worry, elites. You’ll find ways to exempt yourselves from that.)
Sarah Palin was right. To make socialized medicine work, you’ll need death panels for the common folk.
Exactly. “Medicare for all” means that those who have been paying into it all of their lives are about to get their “termination” notices. That money is now going to pay for healthcare for Nasty Nan’s “sparkling” little, freeloading illegal immigrants whose sparkling “parents” enroll them in “medicare for all” through no fault of their own.
Bureaucracies are like weeds: They grow exponentially and eventually choke out everything.............
If anyone can just walk in and get treated fro free any time, I assume the doctors and nurses will become government workers and end up getting paid on some sort of scale based on qualification. I guess a surgeon would make more than a pediatrician and a urologist would make more than a podiatrist. Or, maybe in government wisdom all doctors would just end up being general practitioners.
If it comes to that there will be little incentive to excel and med schools would loosen their requirements and training curriculum in order to lure more affirmative action applicants.
Then, of course there would be no competitive need for quality offices or state of the art operating rooms or equipment. Each state or region would be issued things like MRI machines or defibrillators based on population, average income, or maybe just plain old back room politics.
The slide to mediocrity, or worse, would probably be rapid. I won't be around to see it, so "GOOD LUCK, MILLENNIALS. You're gonna get what you deserve".
“Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.” - Winston Churchill ..................
Tocqueville said that democracy will fail when people allow themselves to be bribed with their own money.
In order for it to work, ALL DOCTORS, NURSES, THERAPISTS and other healthcare workers would have to be GOVERNMENT WORKERS.
They pay scale would be the same as the current GS system.
All hospitals, clinics and Medical Centers would have to become government property.
Thousands of people in the related industries would be thrown out of work.
It would be the biggest disaster in American History..................
Shut down an entire business segment....stroke of the pen.
Brown just got re-elected for six more years. He has time to walk it back and lie again about his views to get re-elected.
Medicare has been going broke since 2008 when expenditures exceeded revenue. The Medicare Trust fund will be exhausted by 2026. By law, benefits must be reduced to match revenue received.
40% of Medicare expenditures come from the General Fund. The premiums for Medicare Part B only cover, by law, 25% of the costs. The rest comes from the GF.
90% of Medicare recipients have private, supplemental insurance, i.e., Medigap insurance.
“Death Panels”...just as a governor from Alaska warned.
How naziesque of him.. and her.
bttt
People who are so rich that they don’t need to carry healthcare, deciding healthcare for the rest of us.
The elites will have their own personal doctors and specialists.
Free of charge, of course.....................to them, anyways....................
