The Trump administration began implementing a new hard-line immigration policy by sending a single asylum-seeker from Central America back to Tijuana, Mexico, to await his assigned court date later this year in San Diego.
The first asylum-seeker to be returned to Mexico was a Honduran man identified as Carlos Catarlo Gomez. He appeared confused and scared by the throng of reporters waiting for him Tuesday on the Mexican side of the San Ysidro border crossing, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. He was whisked away by Mexican authorities.
Officially dubbed "Migrant Protection Protocols," the policy was announced by Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen last December. Administration officials initially called it a "Remain in Mexico" policy to deter the waves of asylum-seeking families fleeing mainly the Northern Triangle nations of Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras.
Until now, asylum-seekers were allowed to remain in the U.S., pending their immigration court appearances.
There is a backlog of 800,000 cases piled up in U.S. immigration courts. The number of migrants detained at the border is near its lowest level in decades, even as the number of asylum-seekers has doubled since 2015.

Excellent! About damn time! What has been going on is absolutely INSANE!
Let’s make sure it includes a good hard kick in the ass so they don’t try it again.
We new what you mint.
Court ruling against it in 5... 4... 3... 2...
I believe this would have to do
with the Logan act, as the deal
Trump made with Mexico is solely
between the United States and Mexico.
But this is just my best guess, or
you would be correct in your
suspicions. If a federal judge
could have blocked this, they would
have.
Should put up mobile jumbotron screens along attempted entry points showing illegals being rounded up and escorted back along with a nonstop loud speaker saying such.
Haven’t they filed for an injunction in a left-coast district court yet? What’s keeping them? The ink’s drying on an EO.
One? Yeah, that was my first thought too.
Hopefully it’s a beginning and increases rapidly.
I saw it on a short video, but don’t remember where; I think it was dailymail.co.uk I don’t agree with their “writers” but they usually have good pics and videos.
I'm with you on that, but would push into Mexico 5-10 mile, dependent on terrain, then build the wall inside Mexico, and use a combo of both military and BP to patrol the "no man zone".
They tried during the shutdown, but Justice Dept said they had no one to defend the policy, so the judge delayed ruling on the policy.
Winning! More please!

“One? One...jeez. The numbers need to increase EXPONENTIALLY...”
One to any exponent is still one.
“notice it says single asylum seekers. That means every man and woman is going to be grabbing a kid.”
Mexico specifically refuses to accept minors back from the US.
So we are back in that loop - can’t separate families. Since they will have to bring their (or someone’s) kids, they will tend to come to stay, rather than just work for a while.
Mexico should be on board with this.
They do not control their northern states anyway.
That explains the lack of fight and screaming from the Democrats and their media.
Yep - won’t stop the concern trolls from griping it isn’t enough and didn’t happen soon enough...wish they had some concept of reality and what Trump is doing as far as keeping up the good fight despite the evil hordes aligned against him...
