The Republican Congress had the chance to pass nationwide concealed carry reciprocity and failed to do it.
The most important thing President Trump can do to protect the 2nd amendment is to appoint more Strict Constructionists to the Supreme Court and the Circuit Courts.
I gently suggest that people are buying guns they think they're going to need, and that focus is on self and home defense due to the current political environment. ARs are flying off the shelves. Concealable semiautos are selling like hotcakes. That buying pattern suggests a population preparing for war, not hunting. Make of that what you will.
That's because it would have taken 60 senators to pass it. And that was never going to happen.
I am not begrudging them, but for a long time manufacturers and ammunition manufacturers were charging premium, albeit responsible, prices due to shortages. Trump was elected and now ammo shortages have evaporated and it is a buyers market.
This is all part of the business cycle. It is also why the ammo manufacturers consistently told us they did not want to expand production in fear of this day.
The tragic part of all this? The time will come again when gun and ammo manufacturers will be firmly back in the driver’s seat.
Plan accordingly.

Annual average gun sales for the eight years that King Obama was on the throne were twice as much as any year’s sales before 2006. If they went through those eight years and didn’t lay by capital for the lean times, or if the spent profits on expanding production capacity without considering that that boom inevitably would come to an end, they were destined to fail anyway.
Oversupply means low prices for the consumer.
Bad for the manufacturers, good for us.
Plus there is a lot of innovation right now, as guns that have been in the development pipeline for years are finally seeing the light of day.
Low prices, new product and cheap and available ammo. What’s not to love?

I’m not buying this logic. I simply don’t care about the bump stock thing, never had any interest in that gimmick. It has very questionable value to me for anything.
I will not, climb on the wagon to criticize President Trump, even if on some issues it is valid. We need to focus on the ComDems and their insane assault on the nation. We can overlook some minor Trump bloopers.
I think it’s true that people buy guns more out of fear than other items. So, if true, this could be a reflection of increased confidence and less fear about crime.
NRA doesn’t publish membership numbers but we know they gained a lot of new members who joined to support 2A rights. The challenge for gun and ammo makers is to turn them into customers, and repeat customers.
I remember paying $25 for a box of 100 22LR.
I refuse to feel guilty as I take advantage of the current glut.

I would have put a little different spin on it, but overall, I agree with it.
Clearly, where you live makes a great difference in how you see the firearms industry. Our congress has shown that, at the expense of Americans, they prefer issues to solutions.
The CEO’s at S&W and Brownell’s are showing the rest of the industry how being a conglomerate is forming a new vibrant industry. Customization and collecting is quickly replacing shooting as a focus for many who have discovered the AR platform or the plethora of handgun configurations currently produced.
The radical policies that are being instituted by desperate leftist politicians are clear examples of who is loosing the self protection argument. The people committing the highly publicized, horrendous shootings are clearly committed leftists, not NRA members.
The changing face of the modern gun owners makes those stuck on defending against the same old leftist propaganda look like they like the argument more than the solution. In other words, they like the issues that were framed by the democrats and they see no reason to change the discussion.
