KIM Jong-un has threatened to kill his own citizens if they switch on South Korean tv shows.
A source told Radio Free Asia’s Korean service that authorities have launched a crackdown on the illegal activity including a death sentence threat for those found breaking the law.
The insider said: “In a recent lecture, they told us they are aware that a growing number of people are able to manipulate the frequencies to watch South Korean TV programmes.
“They said that regardless of any individual’s status, those caught in violation could be executed by firing squad. They want to instill fear.”
The source added many North Koreans have been inspired to watch South Korean television shows because of the perceived thaw in relations between Pyongyang and the West.
Kim Jong-un is due to meet US President Donald Trump for a second time in February as the pair work to denuclearise the Korean peninsula.
Critics have labelled the summit nothing more than a photo-opportunity after Kim failed to follow through on commitments made when he met Mr Trump last year.

Plenty of those who have escaped from North Korea have told us the same thing.
One of the curious things about East Germany, as it existed....is that in roughly 98-percent of the country...you could get radio waves from the west. So there’s this one section of old East Germany, near Dresden...where the geography circumstances prevented any radio reception from West Germany. Those who lived in that particular valley....weren’t westernized in any form prior to the wall coming down.
The psychological effect of the propaganda creating an alternate reality for the residents is eye opening as to what main stream media is doing to us.
Well, if South Korean TV is anything like US TV, what with Fake News and “entertainment” consisting of adultery, fornication, violence, every kind of social pathology, then maybe Fat Boy is on to something.
I'm going to guess that NK televisions are made to only be able to pick up NK channels, and that some people have figured out how to bypass the lockout. Slightly different from "changing the channel".
Kim Jung Un is Right to identify the Western Media as an evil malevolent force bent on destruction, but in his paranoia he presumes that it means to destroy him.
In reality, it means to destroy us.
There has also been a big market for contraband Western videos - the possession of which can also get one killed.
The people risk it because they are desperate for news and knowledge of the outside world.
At least when Kim makes a law, he backs it. The US makes laws every day but they aren’t enforced so why bother.
Ever watch a SK western? They are hyserical. Six guns shoot more times than here. You hold a 6 gun up to your face to aim and you are able to drop a guy at 300 yards off with a 6 gun while he is getting away on a horse.
This has been going on for only, like, fifty years.
Each generation thinks everything started with them.
Worse than the punishment of a firing squad,
is actually watching Western TV.
I think North Korea is just saving the perp some pain.
Because their people watch Western TV, turn into mind numbed zombies, buy Antifa hats, and then go wreck havoc.
The firing squad is compassionate therapy, from having to watch the Oscars.
I remember when the Russians used to have a “tweak” in their TVs so their populace could not watch Western TV channels.
Short Wave radio used to have lots of “jammers” on some frequencies.
At least it will be the humane firing squad instead of mortar practice.....
