Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham told me that as recently as a couple of weeks ago Trump mused to him about the possibility of using military force in Venezuela, where the U.S. government is currently pushing for regime change using diplomatic and economic pressures.
What happened: Graham, recalling his conversation with Trump, said: "He [Trump] said, 'What do you think about using military force?' and I said, 'Well, you need to go slow on that, that could be problematic.' And he said, 'Well, I'm surprised, you want to invade everybody.'"
Graham laughed. "And I said, 'I don't want to invade everybody, I only want to use the military when our national security interests are threatened.'"
"Trump's really hawkish" on Venezuela, the hawkish Graham added in a phone interview on Sunday afternoon, adding that Trump was even more hawkish than he was on Venezuela.

Even a clock is right every 12 hours. But Graham is right on this one.
I can’t imagine having nukes in Cuba and Venezuela. The Red Chinks and Russians got to go.
3 million Venezuelans have left their country and are likely pushing the population shifts into the USA 10,000 at a time
from the Traingle countries.
Time to get real.
Sheesh, make that Linda as in Linda Grahamnesty.
What? You won’t bend over for Linda? LOL.
Trump will never take any option off the table. That’s what a good negotiator does.
The Venezuelan military will not fight for the communist dictator.
American troops will be welcomed.
Venezuela only has around 40 military strike capable fighters
Colombia has twice that but they are more practical air to ground combat support types like Tucano or still used Spooky style Dakotas
Brasil has 120 combat delivery craft
Maduro is outgunned
And where have we heard that before?
You’re a glittering jewel of ignorance. And as I said, you speak with the arrogant and optimistic bravado of someone who has never been in a war. We would defeat the Venezuelan -military- in 2 days. And then a few decades of COIN fun begins. In a mountainous jungle, the size of Texas.
And the Venezuelan military won’t fight for the communist dictator? They are THE main reason he remains in power.
Exactly how many American lives and how many taxpayer dollars is getting “the Russians and the Chinks out of Venezuela” worth?
And what, in the last thirty years, makes you think that an American intervention will work? No matter how well the US armed forces do, the State Department will always eff things up.
The Venezuelans dug this hole for themselves. Let them rot in it until they figure out how to get out. Or let their neighbors take care of it.
Not our circus. Not our monkeys.
Trump was obviously ragging on Graham’s past support for military intervention just about everywhere.
Just like in Iraq, eh?
Venezuela and Venezuelans are not worth a single American life or a single taxpayer dollar.
Exactly. We have no business going in to Venezuela. We could make it worse.
Their Air Force would be obliterated in a matter of hours. Not a doubt that that would happen and that their Army would have no effective formations by the end of the next day.
And we will have a victory celebration, Elliot Abrams and Bolton will be crowing about the fast victory.
Then the terrorist bombing would begin...
And the defense industry would see three decades of riches coming their way.
Oh, and play witha turd, get crap on your fingers. Everywhere we fight causes a giant immigration wave. We have taken in 2 million moslems since 9/11. We imported all the Somalis from Blackhawk down.
Venezuela and Russia are allies
I hope Trump doesnt listen to that neocon Graham who has taken the mantle of proconsul after the departure of McCain. We dont need Americans dying to liberate Venezuela.
Agree. Besides, South and Central America has a primordial suspicion of any indication of US military intervention. Would turn several countries that are currently alligned with us against us.
Amen
Exactly right. He was smoking out Linda.
One would think you have hit upon a strong possibility.
OTOH though it could just be Lindsey running off at the mouth. Time will tell?
The Dems won’t like it. They’re good with using the military against countries who are our allies, or who should be our allies, but THEY CANNOT STAND the thought of using our military against our enemies, particularly Communists.
Yeah let’s bomb Venezuela to cause even more people to flee and come across our southern border.
Maduro can be toppled by other means, and I’m not willing to let one American be killed over Venezuela’s self imposed tyranny.
