It’s not youth and inexperience. It’s not even government-run schools and idiotic celebrities. Not primarily.
Why do so many young people embrace socialism?
For the same reason any middle-aged or older person embraces socialism: Anxiety and envy.
By “anxiety” I mean neurotic anxiety, which means a false or exaggerated belief that one will be unable to properly survive or take care of oneself, so that unspecified help is needed to ensure survival.
Envy is often a byproduct of anxiety. If one starts out feeling, “I’m unable to care for myself,” then it’s not a stretch to look at someone else who has more than enough and say, “That’s not fair. He can more than provide for himself, and I’m unable to do so for myself”.
What about the fact that young people have not yet earned much money, and therefore don’t appreciate the value and justice of private ownership, i.e., being able to keep what you earn? Not all young people feel this way. Some young people understand the justice of keeping what you earn. Some do, and change their minds later and become socialists in middle-age.
Regardless, unless you have a significant amount of neurotic fear and/or envy, it’s unlikely socialism would grab your fancy for even five minutes, much less for years (and elections) on end.
It’s true that public schools are teaching the ideology of self-sacrifice and blind service to others (the same premises as Nazism and Communism) as self-evident givens in today’s government-run schools. But these faulty ideas are not new to the present era. Yet in earlier eras, the majority of young people did not turn as socialist as they appear to be doing today.
The more likely contribution of today’s mediocre schools — as well as an increasingly irrational culture — is that young people don’t know how to think. Thinking is your basic tool and precondition of survival. If you feel inadequate to think critically, rationally and objectively, you’ll develop a neurotic and pervasive sense that, “I’m not equipped to survive.” In a land of plenty, particularly, it seems logically appealing when someone comes along and says, “No worries. We’ll pick up your college tuition. And health care. And tons of other things too. You’re entitled to it, after all.” It comes as a relief to the anxiety-ridden souls who embrace socialism.
In older folk, and in some young people born into wealth, there’s the factor of guilt and atonement. That’s a form of anxiety, too. “I’m rich and I don’t deserve to be. It’s not fair.” So it becomes a form of virtue-signaling merged with a psychological tonic to make sure others see you support socialism.
It’s not that most young people are depraved and stupid any more than most older people are totally depraved and stupid. And it’s not just inexperience. It’s fear. And the envy that gets ignited by fear.
It’s truly sad. And yes, it’s dangerous for the future of a free society, but dangerous most of all for those young people who now seek to embrace socialism. It’s not going to end any better for them than it did for anyone else. And if they get their wish, and socialism gets enacted completely, then their fears will quickly become rational.

Except it’s the perfect grounds for gangsterism.
All levels are corrupt.
Everyone looks for a way to tip the scale,
A bribe, a scam, a robbery.
Eventually it falls apart after the rich have subjugated the poor.
Then there’s the random killing to maintain or gain power.
A vicious cycle.
I just closed on a bugout property location this past week. Coincidence? Perhaps. I’m predicting within ten years if Trump loses the presidency and the Dems take the senate as well, even if RBG is replaced.
Maybe the best possible thing is for this country to experience real Communism for a few years.
Then after that nobody will ever want it again.
They have grown up with “getting something for nothing” role models.
Because Socialism ignores the fact that people are inherently evil, the inexperience of youth makes them easy prey. Socialism on the surface, with people who are not sinners is a superior form of government. But by 5he time you are 50 you realize that given a chance to shirk toil to feed off of others is the choice the vast majority of people will take, and the absolute power the leadership has will absolutely corrupt any man. So, in reality, Socialism is an impossible system.
Mankind are sinners and no amount of wishful thinking will change that.
Only maturity can save budding socialists from themselves.
The takeaway I get is young people are both envious of those who are “the haves” and fear they may never attain it through capitalism; ie working hard and sometimes long hours.
They want to take a shortcut by using the government to take from the “haves” to give to the “have not’s”. Now we all know it never works out like that. All that happens is those that have will either leave the country (if they have enough) or they will lose everything but those who “have not” will not see their life improve one bit because communism doesn’t work that that. It doesn’t lift anyone; it only lowers everyone to one low denominator while the elite in government take, take, take everything they want with no fear of retribution because there is no one to hold them accountable.
If we notice the criminals from the obama admin are still loose then we see we are already 3/4ths of the way to to communism in America. If it hadn’t been for President Trump; we would be all the way there now.

So many people believe people are all really ‘good’ and will choose to do the right thing. They miss where the ‘good’ comes from. You however, hit the nail on the head!
Because Communist/government schools have been indoctrinating them for the past two or three generations?
I would ask them, if capitalism is bad and socialism is good.....why are the caravans coming to America?
Clarification: Except on that ‘socialism’being any good. I missed that sentence when answering. I don’t see it as any good at all even if people was ‘perfect’. Capitalism with Charity is always far superior.
What they will tell you is that US Imperialism destroyed those countries, and therefore we owe it to them to let them come here.

If you look at the demographics however, the picture changes.
Young Whites are not in favor of socialism and a narrow majority actually supported Trump. But among non-Whites, support for Trump collapses and socialism is quite popular.
So, I don’t think the young are lazy, spoiled or anything of the kind. Actually, they are looking at a life far worse than that of their parents, Boomers or the Greatest Generation.
But the demographics drives politics. This is why the Left wants more 3rd world immigration.
It’s because we have a stoop I’d education system.
One of the main reasons our republic is in decline is these young people don’t be live in a honest days work it’s racist back in the day when a party lost and election they went back to work and learned from mistakes made now days if you don’t win slander and libel your opponent delegitimise your opponent election and if that don’t work arrest his friends and family I never thought I would ever see this in America the blind haterid these people have for average hard working Americans scares the hell out of me and the worst thing is these leftist are not compliment to run this country use too you had to at least pocess a few brain cells look at the face of the Leftist party a bunch of abosolute fools could you Amigen trying to run a business with Nancy pelosi crying chukky shummer you would be filing bankruptcy in a minute
