WASHINGTON — President Trump said he would look for alternative venues for his State of the Union address on Tuesday, appearing to capitulate after Speaker Nancy Pelosi again told him she would not invite him to deliver it at the House until the government reopens.
The decision came after a tit-for-tat between Mr. Trump and Ms. Pelosi over the State of the Union address.....It had concluded, at least by late afternoon, with Mr. Trump declaring at the White House, “The State of the Union has been canceled by Nancy Pelosi because she doesn’t want to hear the truth.”

I think Trump knew she was going to reject it and I think he has a plan.
Nancy and the media will push the story that an alternative won’t be the official SOTU since it wasn’t given in her chambers. Trump has more or less acknowledged she cancelled the real SOTU.
Whatever happens, I hope President Trump clearly points out that Pelosi is fighting harder for the illegal aliens than she ever did for any American citizen. Her intransigence has only served to steel his resolve about getting the border barrier funded and completed.
Personally, I’d love it if he’d give her a drop dead date by which to fund his $5+ billion, after which his price tag will go up by half a billion a day until it reaches the fully funded threshold.

Trump should succinctly explain to the American public just why the nation is not today secure.
I would be sorely tempted to go even further and associate in appropriate terms Pelosi's objection to providing urgently needed national security with her on-the-record praise and adoration of several prominent American communists (she referred to one as a "role model for American women").
If she is ever going to be effectively held accountable for her anti-American politics this would seem an appropriate time. Arguably, it is not just a "he-she dispute", she can be seen as taking the nation down in her attack on Trump.

Yup that sounds like Trump. He is going to run this up her backside sideways in some fashion. I am just waiting for his plan.
I wonder how she is planning on getting back and forth to SF from here out. My guess, the military plane will be busy elsewhere.
The point of the State of the Union from the House chambers is what is important here. The democraps are doing everything they can to have Trump appear out of the norm, strange, odd-ball, different, to HURT his political agenda and reelection chances. With the media 99 percent in negative coverage mode, a SOTU address is one of the FEW chances Trump has to speak unfiltered to the American citizens. It’s one of the few chances he gets to appear Presidential as other Presidents have been afforded. Forcing him to do so from an awkward, non-traditional location removes the vestiges of Presidential tone and appearance that he rightly deserves. This is a HUGE loss for Trump, image-wise, if he gives in to this shit. He should FORCE the issue to the point of arrest being made of the democraps standing in the way. That chamber of the Peoples House belongs to the PEOPLE, not Nancy Piglosi. Trump should demand that the House itself vote on this so everyone can be recorded as to their stand.

If I was Trump I would hold state of union speech in a Baptist church and I would tell this nation that the Leftist are turning this nation to a hell on earth and I would show a video of Cuomo ,of his devil clan celebrating NY new abortion law I would tell them that me and my supporters are going to shut down the death chambers of the most innocent among us now that would be winning

Why wait? Trump ran on draining the swamp. He can start by getting rid of the most pompous symbol of the swamp.

Because it's called precedent, and whether you like it or not, no matter who sits in the White House, the standard practice of delivering the State of the Union live will be used to political advantage by both parties. Even if President Trump chose to send his speech to Congress, and not present it live, do you actually believe that the Democrats wouldn't make political hay out of it? And that given the opportunity, the next time one of theirs sits in the White House, that they wouldn't continue the practice to push their own political agenda?
