It's working.
The global effort to persuade the Venezuelan military to begin to revolt against their commanders - by phone calls, web postings, other means, is starting to kick in. The Venezuelan dictatorship said it put down its first revolt from a National Guard unit out in a really miserable slum of Caracas called Petare. Here's the details of what went down in Caracas from the Associated Press:
CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) Venezuelas government said Monday it put down a mutiny by a National Guard unit in a poor neighborhood a few miles (kilometers) from Venezuelas presidential palace.
The uprising triggered protests in the same neighborhood, which were dispersed with tear gas as residents set fire to a street barricade of trash and chanted demands that President Nicolas Maduro leave power.
The armed forces in a statement said that it had captured all those involved in what it described as treasonous acts motivated by obscure interests tied to the far right.

Russia.
Say hi to Snowden.
“Paging miss occasional-cortex”
Paging Bernie Sanders, please pick up the red courtesy phone in the lobby.

Your scenario didn’t happen in Chile.
“Im going to miss the socialist Chavistas in Venezuela.
Why? Because its good to have a continuously running, off-Broadway production of a socialist shit show - as a real-time example to those dimwitted Americans who support the likes of Ocasio-Cortez and Bernie Sanders.”
I have a friend who took his then-teenage sons to Amsterdam to see the junkies openly shooting up in public. It was a stark lesson about the reality of drug addiction, and both boys have grown up to be very successful, drug-free men.
Russia used to be a no brainer answer but now commicrats can’t count on it due to Russia’s mood on world opinion at the time.
Ms. Kotex and the other socialist minds of mush will go to their grave thinking that Socialism WILL work in America.
[I was shocked to see Trudeau agree on this.]
That IS pretty shocking.
“Annnd we get a right wing military dictatorship instead of a communist military dictatorship ...”
No, the Venezuelan people get a charismatic civilian leader instead of a monster who, it is widely acknowledged, stole the last “election.” Having said that, I don’t favor U.S. intervention there. Let the people, with the Venezuelan military’s backing, take control.
Will this socialist loser madura get his bus-driver job back? Was he union?
[The armed forces in a statement said that it had captured all those involved in what it described as treasonous acts motivated by obscure interests tied to the far right.]
What, no ‘Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy’?
“Annnd we get a right wing military dictatorship instead of a communist military dictatorship. Civil war, more corruption and starvation continues. The people of Venezuela will continue to get screwed but by different bastards. The military will probably get western companies to get the oil flowing again and bring in more revenue for them, maybe more jobs for citizens, but in reality not much will change until the communists take back the government and the cycle repeats itself.”
The “experts” said almost the exactly same thing when the Communist governments in Eastern Europe were overthrown.
Yeah, but what kind of military “colonel” or “general” will now become dictator?? Will he be friendly to the US or will he become China and Iran’s next best friend?
That is a true 180 degree difference.
I dont think the sarcasm tag is appropriate here. Democratic socialism has never been tried because its a unicorn. It looks pretty, but it doesnt exist. I think the real problem is that socialism is the last dying stage of crony capitalism - we steal what we want and the government is there to take care of all the people well stole from. Its a stop gap measure to prevent the extremism that results from a real revolution e.g. Russian communism or the French terror.
“Yeah, but what kind of military colonel or general will now become dictator?? Will he be friendly to the US or will he become China and Irans next best friend?”
The Trump administration officially recognized opposition leader Juan Guaido as the nation’s interim president.
Trump will handle this. Everything will be fine.
“Trump is succeeding in Venezuela.”
The media will give Obama the credit.
“I dont think the sarcasm tag is appropriate here. “
I found that if I don’t put the sarcasm tag a percentage of readers take me seriously. Then, I get flamed. Better safe than scorched.
