Did columnist David Brooks put his New York Times gig at risk on Monday? Most people at liberal mainstream media outlets that have reported on the incident in Washington D.C. on Friday involving the Covington Catholic high school students, after having been made aware of the longer video and more facts about what actually happened, seem to be using the weasel type of position of saying something along the lines of "perhaps the incident is not quite like what it initially seemed but..."
However, Brooks did not go that route. Instead he gave a full, flat out defense of those students as we shall see.
As could be expected the left went berserk over Brooks' column, "How We Destroy Lives Today," not only where the usual loons reign such as at the Democrat Underground but in the comments that accompany his column as well. Here are some of the observations of the incident by Brooks that caused the left to go just plain nuts:

The gang attack mentality on this case is off the charts.

Doubt the Brooks column is sincere in any way. NYT badly needs to blunt the scythe of libel litigation, child abuse, and civil rights charges which threaten to put the Old Grey Lady in her well-earned grave as Hulk Hogan did to GAWKER.

Was finally brought out last night on Laura Ingraham’s show. She had someone from the Catholic Church, not a priest, I think, but someone, the “president” (?) of their association?
He points out that, this guy Phillips maintains, that he saw two groups that were hurling insults at each other, and he was caught in the middle and he chose to get into the middle to diffuse the anger.
Okay, fair enough, BUT the facts show that it was the Black Hebrews (are these guys really Jewish?), who were throwing the insults, not just insults, but they were trying to egg on the students, who were just standing there.
SO, WHY DIDN’T THE CHIEF DIFFUSE THE SITUATION BY TAKING HIS TOM TOM TO THE BLACK HEBREW SIDE, AND GET THEM TO QUIET DOWN THEIR ANGER AND RHETORIC? VERY STRANGE...
If the leftists were to tell the truth, (which they are not usually able to do in any case), they would admit that once they saw the hat the kid was wearing, no other fact mattered. That is the state of the liberal mind today. A red hat triggers them to blind rage, and irrational thought.

And there are apparently many questions about who - in Washington DC - gave them the MAGA hats. Seems the Catholic kids didn’t have any when they left the school.
My opinion? Agitators in DC were handing out MAGA red hats to CREATE the movie they needed. The movie staged scene they wanted.
With this single slander the Mainstream Media has done more damage and put more people in danger than ANYTHING Alex Jones has ever said or done.
He’s Indian, but I read that he was taken away from his mother at age 5 (probably neglect) and brought up by a white family until he joined the reserves. Someone here posted that he trained as a refrigerator mechanic and went AWOL and to the brig three times...no Vietnam!
I don’t know when he got into the professional Indian gig, but he seems to work for some “native American Youth” organization funded by the usual lefty foundations.
I saw what looked to be info on his parents....looked legit. Indian. I’m still waiting for more info on this slime....don’t care if he is Indian, but I do care about his history as a ‘Vet’ and ‘activist’....
