I miss his TV show. I remember that he used to use various weapons with a watermelon as the target. After “killing” the watermelon he would “eat the flesh of the enemy.” RIP
Thx ... quite touching, even in all that snow.
Check out Gunny’s Glock commercials when you’ve got time. Here’s my favorite.

Apparently Kubrick hired him to train an actor to do the role... After watching him, he gave that actor the job of firing a machine gun out of helicopter, and then gave the drill instructor role to him.
Look right underneath the headline, Ray Charles.
Wow, he looks like a real hard ass in that last pic.
I know he was called gunny, but I thought I read he was NOT a gunnery sergeant. Is this the case?
True for his service. He was promoted honorably to the rank by the Corps I believe.
Honorary. Correction.
Apparently Kubrick hired him to train an actor to do the role... After watching him, he gave that actor the job of firing a machine gun out of helicopter, and then gave the drill instructor role to him. If i recall that guy said if their running they are VC. If they are standing still they are well disciplined VC. Get some! Get some!
No mistake though this man was a man’s man these modern snowflakes would melt under within moments. The Military History Channel runs his shows non stop and he continues to keep patriotism alive beyond his passing. Bless his soul.
Ok. I thought I read somewhere that actually he was a higher rank, like a master sergeant.
