On Sunday, Britain's Daily Star reported that Lady Gaga and Angelina Jolie — two white actresses — are competing for the role of Cleopatra, sparking outrage across social media. Social Justice Warriors (SJWs) demanded that the African queen should be played by a woman of color, even though the historical Cleopatra was Greek, not black.
"Stop whitewashing Cleopatra!!!" tweeted Kendra James, a writer and editor at Shondaland.com. "Film the story of literally any other queen on the vast African continent."

The gossips of the day went into overdrive, vis-a-vis Julius' private life, and yet, though they wrote a whole LOT about Julius's sexual proclivities, there isn't that kind of "talk" about Cleopatra...and yes, I have read the equivalent of today's N.Y. Post's "PAGE SIX" in Latin.
What was talked about, is what a great conversationalist she was and how captivating, whilst in discourse with men, talking to them on their own level. Most women, of that time, weren't educated that well.
Livia, August Caesar's wife was another well educated woman, of that time period.

Who is to say she wasn’t white?
Her royal family and she were greeks (descended from a greek general of Alexander the Great), she wasn’t north African or semitic or Arabic etc.
What would be an outrage and a revision of history would be if a black or dark skinned person were to play her.

Well, there was one I read about years ago. She was so powerful she forbade any of her subjects from appearing in her dreams under pain of death.
I believe archaeologists have the bones of the sister of Cleopatra who was murdered and buried in Ephesus.

And then there is good old 4th year Latin, with Vigil and Ovid.
