The White House demanded that the military draft plans for strikes on Iran after attacks in Iraq last year, sparking concern at the Pentagon and State Department, The Wall Street Journal reported Sunday, January 13.

The report said the move came after a mortar attack launched by an Iran-linked group on the Baghdad diplomatic quarters home to the US embassy in September. No one was hurt by the shells, which landed in an open lot.

This report is absolute BS. Standard procedure (for anyone that has been in the military know it well), is to plan for all contingencies. What is the purpose of this story? To paint Trump as some vengeful madman with his finger on the trigger? BS. It is a propaganda piece, nothing more. I assure you that we have plans to attack Russia in a hundred different ways. Is that newsworthy? So what. It is a hit piece, and nothing more. It is designed to add to the hysteria and to paint Trump in their own caricature. They selling a soft coup. Don’t trust anything that you see in the media and always ask what the purpose of the article is. What are the actual facts? I loved how they tried to legitimize it by adding and un-named source. “It definitely rattled people,” a former senior US administration official told the newspaper. “People were shocked. It was mind-boggling how cavalier they were about hitting Iran.” Who the hell was that? Susan Rice?

Treasonous bastard. Should be in line for a blanket party.

Pathetic that our own newspapers would probably be on Iran’s side in a conflict. They will pay for their treachery. Maybe in an enemy attack on New York or Washington from an enemy that they assisted. That would be poetic.

>>>We should be concentrating on Iranian forces in Syria and Iraq. Put them back in their hole.

But instead, we are pulling out of the base in al-Tanf. With the US gone, Iran will more easily be able to transfer sophisticated weapons to Hezbollah in Lebanon, and to deploy its own forces and weapons against Israel from Syria.

War-gaming was a major part of my job in the USAF (actually, creating the software that allowed generals to war-game).

They had hundreds of detailed plans on the shelf (literally in those days).

I'm glad we are prepared for many contingencies.

The Pentagon has contingency plans for many scenarios, including attacking Iran, they would not be doing their job if they did not.

Agence France-Presse is a better source than AP or Reuters

Pentagon officials stressed that it was not unusual for the Defense Department to draw up military plans for the White House.

“The Department of Defense is a planning organization and provides the president military options for a variety of threats,” Colonel Rob Manning, a Pentagon spokesman, told the Agence France-Presse (AFP).

I guess this was missed.....

“The Pentagon should always be drafting plans.”

I’m surprised they couldn’t just reach up and pull a notebook off a shelf of thousands of notebooks...of plans already developed. (Maybe tweek the plan a little for global warming.)

Agence-Press is probably leftist

You go that right. As insane Leftists who hate the good and love evil wherever they find them, Agence France-Presse are Faux News specialists going way back. To take one example, they've cooperated in the making of fictitious, play-acted videos of Israeli "atrocities against civilians" in the Middle East. They showed up for the staging of these mini-operas, reporting them as news even after seeing them rehearsed--watching the "dead" victims get up and try the scenes again and again.

And they haven't been the only wire service to play this game.

Amen. If plans don’t exist in the Pentagon for Iran then taxpayers are wasting their money.

John Kerry, I’ll bet. Former SecState (therefore “former Admin official”) and has a daughter married to an Iranian bigwig.
