The country would face an economic hellscape if the government shutdown lasts "months or even years," as the president has suggested it might, experts tell NBC News.
The doomsday scenario might be unlikely — the longest the federal government has ever shut down is 21 days, a record that will fall if the current closure lasts until Saturday — but it is chilling.
"We'll be in no man's land," Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody's Analytics, told NBC News.
If the worst were to happen, experts say the devastating impact would be widespread:

I’m trying to figure that out myself.
The dems are planning on welfare to be stopped. That way they can call in the National Guard and declare Martial law as cities are burned. By business failing they will gain more poor people by killing the middle class. A lot of people will die off esp the weak and older ones. They will have an excuse to shoot gang members.
The point they are missing is they will destroying their tax base. Gas taxes, property taxes and income tax revenue will all take a big hit.
I used to knkw people who used to get excited at tax time because they overpaid their taxes on purpose. I just have to say “Really?”.

Maybe Government workers should retrain to become doctors or software engineers? How about hitting the career counseling centers? Can’t they relocate?
OH. BooHoo. Cry me a river. First principal of economic responsibility - set aside at least 3 months worth of salary in a savings account. Preferably 6-12 months.

Consider this practice for future problems—after all the debt Obama racked up, we probably already passed the point of no return. Rough times are coming via the same ole Banksters, who really didn’t change anything to fix the true problems.
So if the International Finance System melts down, or the USA experiences double digit inflation again, or if changes to entitlements don’t happen, there’s not going to be any money for anything-get used to providing for yourself and family.
Several of those items should go unfunded forever.
Half the country doesn’t pay income taxes. That leaves 50 percent where some over pay. I try to owe the irs. But if you owe the too much over too many years they want to penaltize you. If you over pay for multiple years that’s ok. Screw them.

Many of the others on the food stamp scam are layabouts, drug addicts, and fake SSDI’s — while taxpayers are keeping these dregs of society supplied with their wants and needs.
