On Being a Woman in America While Trying to Avoid Being Assaulted

Lately, I’ve come to suspect that maybe a lot of people, especially men, still have no idea what it’s like to be a woman in America going about her life while trying, and at times failing, not to be assaulted. So, these past weeks, I’ve been observing myself.

As a man, I find this insulting. I would not assault a woman no matter how she is dressed and I resent the implication that I cannot control myself.

This woman comes across as not especially well adjusted. For example, when she gets in her car she checks the back seat for hidden men first, then once she gets in she immediately locks her doors and then zooms off, no delays. Apparantly in all situations. Maybe it’s a case of me not getting it, which is her premise, but I see plenty of women in the real world that don’t act so scared at all times. Perhaps, just maybe, some of the issue is with her.

On the day Brett Kavanaugh was voted into the Supreme Court despite multiple, very credible accusations of sexual misconduct, I left my apartment. I went around town, running errands while trying not to cry.

She is attempting to advertise something, exactly what it might be, I'm unsure.

I do the same, and I am a 64yo man. It has nothing to do with fearing sexual assault, and everything to do with good sense.

I knew a 65 yo. Woman who was raped in the middle of the night. Someone broke into her house via the doggie door which was shut, but not locked.

Outward appearance has nothing to do with with the sick mind some people have. A Normal healthy man would ask her out, and be respectful of her wishes.

A man who forces himself on a woman gets his jollies from the power of intimidation. He is lusted by her fear, not her looks.
