From the article:

“Once I got it into my thick skull

that Darwinism is just one more humanistic philosophy

from the Enlightenment,

designed to write God out of everything,

the battle was over.”

From the article:

“Once it was pointed out to me

that it meant the existence of evil and death

before Adam and Eve,

and was therefore biblically impossible,

I felt quite stupid.”

Can’t have an independent thought in the sciences until after you retire.

YEP!!!!

From the article:

“Jon thinks that with the world

much more polarized than

when he retired some 20 years ago,

life in academia now, as a biblical creationist,

would be much more difficult for him than when he was an evolutionist.

He says, “I wouldn’t last a week in that environment now.””

Thanks for posting! Great article and lots of great info.

Science is just man’s efforts to analyze, categorize and understand what God has created.

"Once I got it into my thick skull that Darwinism is just one more humanistic philosophy from the Enlightenment, designed to write God out of everything, the battle was over."

Sorry but this scientist is no historian and obviously very confused in his old age.
The Enlightenment, from which we get both our Founding Fathers and natural-science, was never "designed to write God out of everything", but rather to learn more about how God operates.
"Darwinism", so called, like natural science itself, begins with the methodological assumption of natural explanations for natural processes.
It does not "write God out of everything", merely leaves the study of God to theologians, philosophers & saints, etc.
From the time of our Enlightenment Founders on, the function of science has been to find natural observations & explanations only.

That's what so called Darwinism is & does.

I believe (if it can be stated in words, as poor a means of speech as dumb show ever was) that God is the creator of reality, and that reality proceeds in the logical direction dictated by its nature, which is actualized by God. I am therefore not scandalized by the idea that life evolved and continues to evolve. It’s all down to God, no matter how it happens.
